From what I can tell people are referring to "elite potential" which he certainly has.
Maybe stop telling people what to stop saying.

So because he is not a NHL superstar at 20 he will never be?

2.5 seasons but you are correct, way way to early to know either way what he is going to be.
Edit: I just realized you meant since he was in junior and not drafted...so correct you are.

1.5 seasons as Drouin went back to junior the year after he was drafted

I don't want to really think about that, tough decision.
Yzerman would never do that deal because Jankowski can go free agent if he wants so it doesn't matter.

That is an easy yes for the Flames IMO. Not sure Jankowski still has boom potential. A point per game in his senior year does not translate to first line NHL center. Kylington has potential but he was drafted end of second round in most recent draft.
Lightning fans would hate this.

I agree with everything you are saying here especially that Tampa fans would hate this return. Jankowski is a young senior and apparently still 10-15lbs lighter than his NCAA coach thinks he will fully mature at. I see Colborne when I see Jankowski. Boston fans once thought Joe had potential to be a top line C And he has carved out a decent NHL career but as we all know he isn't a top 6 forward.

That's a big no for me. I would do one of them, and prefer to move Kylington, but not both of them. I think Jankowski is going to be a great addition to the team in the middle next season. I think he is going to surprise a lot of people and be a solid 2nd or 3rd line center that chips in consistently on the scoresheet while playing a responsible two way game. He makes Backlund a player I would consider moving. Frankly, with a center core of Monahan, Bennett, Jankowski and Arnold, this team looks great at that position and should have the flexibility to move out guys like Backlund and Stajan in short order. Future looks bright down the middle.
I'd still be more inclined to try and move Backlund and Wideman/Russell for Drouin and a salary dump on their blueline.

I know Tampa wouldn't do that but wanted to see Flames fans opinions. I do that deal without hesitation but there is already one poster that said he wouldn't. I suspected as such and was looking to see how many would be opposed
Mike Johnston wrote an article about 7 teams he could see taking a run or being a good fit for Drouin. Flames were one of those teams with Wideman/Russell and a promising young forward being our trade bait.
If Wideman is in the deal then I suspect Carle would be as well. Based on what Tampa is looking for
Wideman and Ferland
For
Carle and Drouin
Extra year on Carle at $5.5M. He would have to be given a look as Dougie's partner and Russell would have to be moved for picks/prospects. It would suck to lose Ferland but I don't think he is a top 6 guy but fills a huge roll on the team. I still make that trade and add as high as a 2nd rounder

You might be inclined to do this but Tampa would never do this. Drouins value is probably Sam Bennett. I would not accept Backlund and Wideman/Russell for Bennett.

I will be blown away if the return for Drouin doesn't include a 1st round pick from this year's draft. With so many suitors, there is no way he blows this IMO. I'm not even sure our 1st+Poirier would be enough and I wouldn't want to do that.

Wow. Never really considered him, but if we can get some expensive contracts off the books and let some of our vets walk, I would love to sign Backes as a UFA. He is exactly the type of guy we need. Would be a great fit.
