Some talk in STL sports radio about the under performance of Pietrangelo, and the Blues team overall. I'd expect big changes here, likely in the summer, but maybe sooner, starting with Hitch

I agree that in general they dummy the Flames, because it's obvious they do, more often than not when we play that team, and we pull out wins with elite goaltending and opportunistic offense. But it's more of a modern Detroit Red Wings dummy, than them doing it because they're big.
On the other side of the puck the Hawks are better suited to counter a heavy game than the Flames are. Seabrook can handle the Carters and Getzlaf's of the league, and the Hjalmarson/Oduya pairing didn't get pushed around either. The Flames absolutely need a d-man in the top four who can break up the cycle and handle big bodies driving to the net.

SO this coming off season, I want the Flames to find a way to get (in order):Hayes, Hamonic, Drouin and to draft one of Puljajarvi or Laine. Since I"m dreaming, why not shoot for Holtby too!

Hopefully that is the type of player Dougie can turn into

if you are trying to imply Sven is and equal player I would strongly disagree...he has 42 points in 102 games not sure what the Calgary numbers are

Calgary got a second rounder for Sven after he asked for a trade...Drouin will fetch more you can bet your ass

Toews is tough as nails and very hard to knock off the puck. He is not huge but at 6'2 he is big and his legs are like tree trunks. He can hang with the Carters and Getzlafs....our best combination of size and skill up front is Sean Monahan.

Agreed. Any deal involving Drouin will (most likely) see a 1st round pick going back to Tampa.

I was going to post this. I've noticed he's been a lot more physical over the past 10-15 games and has actually had a few nice open ice hits to boot.

True, which is why all the undervaluing and even some outright trashing of Hamonic when that rumor came up was a bit odd.

It was higher than that. He was around .5 ppg if memory serves. At one point he and Monahan had the same points in the same amount of games, something like 32 in 64.

You know that he played games before Monahan was a Flame right?

I don't think they are equal today obviously as Drouin is almost 2.5 years younger. He will be traded for more because he is younger at the time, he has better draft pedigree and he's not going to be waiver eligible next year.

Baertschi is already a bust and Drouin still has some time. However, I think the hype train at the time and the early returns at the pro level are very similar. They are similar in other ways too, both are smallish, playmaking LW that scorched juniors and couldn't deliver a good two way game or be good enough offensively to overcome a lack of defensive awareness in the NHL (early on). Even their production is similar though the early part of their careers, granted Drouin is younger. So no, they aren't equal but no two players are. i think they are comparable in a lot of ways, though obviously Drouin was always a shinier prospect.

He's softer than baby poo and he's currently on pace for 12 goals and 26 points. I'm not too concerned, recent 'hot streak' or not.

28 in 66 with the Flames. 15 in 36 with the Canucks. Almost identical points per game.

The kind of numbers that would be good for a 3/4 two way defenseman. Not so good when you're a one dimensional 'scorer'.

So apparently 16 teams are watching him play right now.
