Of course we always fall into the trope of conflagrating Nazis with the Wermacht (and other factions) which in many cases were different and held different ideologies and moral standards.

Its funny because if you look at the uniforms in the original trilogy they heavily borrow off of the German Uniforms of WW2.

Then you get the fanatical storm troopers

So we move ahead 30 years to the first order and every officers is made to look like an SS uniform including the leader General Hux

But to make sure that we knew he was a total bad guy, we add on the long coat like the Gestapo in Indian Jones

O'well. Still an amazing feat. Hopefully the 2nd one builds a ton of hype for the 3rd and we see it obliterate stupid James Cameron.
Never fear, the Chinese havent had their say yet and Disney has been pimping it hard in China.

People are petitioning to get George Lucas to direct episode IX, maybe for some due to the lack of originality seen so far, maybe for others because it would be a fitting sendoff to the third trilogy.

So would people here prefer Trevorrow or Lucas?

These are internet trolls.

Despite minor gripes with the Force Awakens, no one in their right mind would want Lucas in charge of any future Star Wars.

Bringing Lucas back would just not work, and at this point, I doubt he'd want to.

Not sure I want Trevorrow either though. Jurassic World was decent, but didn't have a lot of substance. It would be awesome if they could just get a collection of top-tier directors to do just one each, even for the spin offs. I mean, what director wouldn't want their hand at Star Wars? Nolan? Boyle? Jackson? Blomkamp? Del Toro? Whedon?

I suppose they also have to be people willing to succumb to the tone and feel of Star Wars, rather than having their own take, so that may deter some.

Trevorrow is still a fairly new director, I'd like to see how his next couple movies are before writing him off for IX. Safety Not Guaranteed was really good, and he's got another drama-type film coming out this year that sounds like it could be good too.

Trevorrow has been announced as director, not writer. Jurrasic World had decent direction and cinematography, but suffered due to a senseless plot. The Star Wars trilogy should continue to have solid writing.

Honestly, Joss Whedon is the perfect director for these movies, or would be if not for Disney politics. Doubt he wants to deal with that. But he still holds the crown for having made a better "Star Wars" movie than Star Wars.

Who directed Guardians of the Galaxy?

That seems like a perfect fit.

I heard Trevorrow was being considered for IX, but then a little later I read somewhere Rian Johnson was locked in to VIII and IX because the script for VIII was a dandy.

Also heard Ridley Scott was being considered for IX but that was debunked.

At the end of the day I think Johnson has the last two of the trilogy locked up.

JJ Abrams is a dolt though, he handed the keys to immortality away based on some poor logic IMO.

Whats that?

The theory that I get is that Abrams is actually stepping up and sort of becoming the Darth Vader of the Star Wars brand, Mickey is obviously the emperor but Abrams is the one pulling all the strings.

Rian Johnson is a writer and the director for XIII and will stay on as a writer for IX. Trevarrow will direct IX.

Well he's been down that disney road before and didn't like it because they want their movies to be too safe. That's understandable, there is a lot of money at stake here, but that's also why it's kind of hard to take these movies seriously.

I don't know how anyone could watch the the prequel trilogy, with it's total lack of give a #### in the performance of the actors combined with the CGI'd monstrosity, and ever want Lucas to direct anything ever again.

JJ Speaking out about the similarities of ANH and TFA, I agree with him about having to take a step backwards to move forwards.

Quote:
“I can understand that someone might say, ‘Oh, it’s a complete rip-off!’ We inherited ‘Star Wars.’ The story of history repeating itself was, I believe, an obvious and intentional thing, and the structure of meeting a character who comes from a nowhere desert and discovers that she has a power within her, where the bad guys have a weapon that is destructive but that ends up being destroyed — those simple tenets are by far the least important aspects of this movie, and they provide bones that were well-proven long before they were used in ‘Star Wars,'” he continued.

This. James Gunn did Star Wars better than Star Wars. What a great movie that was.
