Man, I think I'm a baby with my controllers. I don't think I've had too much trouble with any of mine over the years. For any system.

Microsoft on Monday announced that its Xbox brand broke records during the all-important holiday season.
In a post on the Xbox Wire, Microsoft said on December 28, more people logged into Xbox Live than any other day in the history of Xbox. A specific user figure was not divulged.
In addition, the number of hours spent gaming across Xbox One and Xbox 360 during Christmas week (December 20-December 27) were up compared to last year, according to Microsoft's estimates.
As for Xbox One console sales, Microsoft did not share any numbers.
In terms of game sales, Microsoft said all of its first-party holiday games sold over 1 million copies. These include Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6, and Gears of War Ultimate Edition.

I love how Microsoft refuses to share the sales numbers. We all know that the PS4 is killing XB1, but their own sales numbers are still pretty good. No reason to be so obviously embarrassed about it.

Also, they call Rise of the Tomb Raider a first-party game. It wasn't even published by Microsoft, let alone developed by them.

I've never broke a controller, but my buddy breaks them constantly. He admits to pushing so hard on the sticks that the plastic wears down. I think there's a ton of variation in how people hold these things.

In general I've had better luck with Xbox controllers never having to replace any of them. But this generation I've had to replace one of my initial xbox one controllers. I'm actually back to the 360 right now...catching up on Assassin Creed games.

I didn't start wearing down controllers until I started playing FPS games... now my right bumper gets worn down on occasion. I'm only on my 2nd controller since I got the PS4 a year and half ago

My left analog stick got worn off on both my original PS4 controllers. One of the 'Triangle' buttons had started to go soft too (all that camera shifting in Rocket League...). Bought two new ones this past fall and I think they use a different material on the sticks now, feels a lot better than I remember. I'd never done that to a controller before -- can still play with my original PS3 controllers.

I've never worn out a controller since Sega Genesis. But my brother goes through about 2 or 3 a year somehow

They definitely changed the material on the sticks. It was a thin layer of rubber at launch. Much better now.

I've never worn out a controller. I've had the PS3 since 2006, and still have the original controller.
Speaking of controllers, the PS4 controller is a clear upgrade (longer handles, the lip on the top of the joysticks, trigger buttons) but the battery life leaves much to be desired. Not happy about that.

Sony almost always seem to publish numbers that "sold through" to customers, Microsoft numbers are generally "Xbox family" (includes 360's) or sold into channel (aka shipped). Microsoft also really likes to add weird stats like "bullets shot at zombies", "number of Titanfalls", etc.
Things were flipped in the previous generation while the 360 was ahead of the PS3. I guess both companies don't like to give official sales numbers when they are losing.

I mentioned earlier in this thread but at this point sold through is essentially going to equal shipped. Stores aren't stockpiling consoles for a rainy day. They are purchasing what they sold through. So the real overall number is shipped - what's on shelves. But there aren't millions and millions sitting on shelves. Monthly numbers are going to be pretty accurate as the in = out.
Part of the problem is that both the xbox one and PS3 are/were successful but the industry just completely bags on the one losing which the companies may feel exasperates the situation.

Yikes.
http://kotaku.com/last-week-microsof...-ja-1754211746
In a nation of 127 million people, last week only ninety-nine of them wanted to buy an Xbox One. Ouch.
Double digits!
More good news. Well, somewhat. The week before that, 293 Xbox Ones were sold, and before that, 490.

The Xbox has never really been a thing in Japan, dating back to the original and the duke. The XB1 is half the size of the average Japanese home, two times the size of the average Japanese male, and doesn't offer near the plethora of abstract have-to-be-from-Asia-or-an-anime-fan type games that they thirst for over there.
