The Flames did not play well, but I don't think they were as bad as some of you think. Arizona played a very good (albeit EXTREMELY boring) game and shut the Flames down.

Colborne on the first line has been a disaster since day 1 and I hope it never happens again. That guy sewers that line.

Dave Tippett should not be allowed to coach in the NHL anymore. If I had to watch that junk 82 games of the year I'd go insane.

It really is a "what have you done for me lately" society we live in. Geez Monahan is still on pace for 50+ points and is only 21.

They need to try Bennett up with Monahan and Gaudreau.

I haven't said anything in over a week about Russell. I don't see how me pointing out him having a bad game is any worse than someone else pointing out Wideman had a bad game.

Am I wrong in my thoughts about his play ? I don't think so. I doubt I'm the only one that would be open to moving him to a team that needs a puck mover instead of a stay at home type guy, so what's the problem with proposing that ?

Colbourne just looks so lackadaisical naturally. He doesnt have any urgency in the way he plays. God help us if Gaudreau ever gets injured, we have zero depth or ability to score against other pacific teams it seems without him.

And on another note, this board is pretty insufferable to read after a close and competitive loss to a team that is roughly as good as the Flames. It's like everyone feels the Flames are owed a win even before puck drop? Weird.
I think you watched a different game from the rest of us. The Flames played like total crap and the Coyotes played poorly too. The team that played better won. The team that played better, did not play very well.

This wasn't a tight-checking defensive game. This was a sloppy game where we deserved to lose by way more goals than one but Ramo was standing on his head. We were completely, 100% shut down at even strength and honestly, even Johnny's PP goal was a bit awkward, I'm glad it went in but their goalie had time to move over.

Colborne is a third line guy. Anybody but him or Raymond should be up there.

Monahan, IMO, should be on pace for more than 50 pts. That's my problem I guess. Also, even though he may still be getting points, that doesn't mean that his overall game looks great. And yeah, of course pro sports is a 'what have you done for me lately', why wouldn't it be?

There's a lot of hate for Colborne, but Monahan can't shoot and he can't clear pucks out of his own end. At least Colborne is getting in the dirty areas and winning some battles. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with his arms. Monahan can still skate, but his hands are like stone - like most of the Flames who can't score.

Hartley should move Monahan to second line and try Bennett with him. Move Ferland to the first line with Colborne and Gaudreau.

Missing two top 6 forwards doesn't help our offense...

Two days ago we were excited to be in a playoff spot and congratulating the team.

...fast forward to today and people are seriously asking if we should trade Monahan.

Are you out of your mind? It's Gaudreau we should we trading.

The boring Tippett / Yotes complaints honestly baffle me. That's a coach and a team that is absolutely squeezing the most out of what it's got, which at this stage is very little. Tippett is not in the business of entertaining us by losing to the Flames in a wild river hockey matchup, he's there to win by any means possible...and if our own coaching staff isn't able to get the same out of our superior roster, then too bad for us.

If Arizona was playing stupid hockey and getting blown away every night, we'd be whining about their Awful for Auston campaign. Let's stick to giving the real credit and criticism where it's due instead of this tired "they don't even deserve an NHL team" stuff.

On a positive note Ramo continues his strong play between the pipes.

Monahan's having his sophomore slump a year late is all. I'd like to see more from him, but I'm far from worried

A story about tonight's game. I rarely get to see a live Flames game. I live out of town and I have four kids so I can't afford to go more than once or twice per year. My son is an absolute Flames nut so I bought Flames tickets in PL7 for all the kids (my son had been to a Flames game last year but it was the first for my three daughters) during the Black Friday sale ($20/ seat). I like to make a day of it say I pull all of he kids out of school at noon to hit some stores, supper and then the Flames game. When we get to the game (about 5:45) they had some stuff for the kids at the door (thundersticks and some little Flames trinkets). As we start the climb to the sky we also acquire Flames toques and $5 gift cards for all of the kids free of charge. Once we reach our seats in the sky (PL-7) we were all joking about how high it was for a couple of minutes and a nice lady from the Flames comes up to us with a stack of tickets and asks if we would like to be relocated to Section 104 in the lower bowl ($170+ face value on the tickets)!

Although it wasn't the best game I have seen the team play I have to comment on what a classy organization the Flames are. It was a great night and sitting with my offspring at the game brought back memories of my dear old deceased Dad and I sitting front row in the Corral when I was a kid.

The Divisional record is going to be the tell all of the Flames' playoff hopes this year. Last season they were a solid 22-6-1 and this year....well it isn't pretty at a paltry 4-7-1 so far.
(Info taken from Daren Haynes twitter, very thankful this guy is around)

As of now, every divisional loss is bleeding points from their total last season which they made the show very very late into the season, the good thing is everyone outside of L.A in the division is in a dog fight for both a playoff spot and a lotto pick.

Put me in the Flames were not bad, Coyotes played a very good road game camp. Flames worked hard and had zero puck-luck against a team playing very well. You do understand that the Flames will lose games, right? Losing a close, hard-fought game is frustrating, but not the end of the world.

Going to be ugly around here when Gaudreau gets that big contract this summer and struggles at any point next season. "what have you done for me lately" is completely a short sighted dummy way of thinking.

And anyone who has to end their post with a "yeah, I said it!" should be slapped on site.
