ran into him during the home opener, had a quick conversation while waiting for a whistle about his adjustment to post hockey life. I appreciate him taking the time to talk to me and even sign my flaming horse jersey. A true class act and I am glad that the flames are part of his retirement announcement

Awesome for him to do this. Suit him up to help cure the buttery softness of this roster.

I am not pissed, after all he won't be playing for us. I would be pissed if he was made an assistant coach in charge of the D men though, there would go all the offence from the blue line. Can't see that though. He is welcome to serve heroin beer.

Too bad this couldn't wait until LA was in town... maybe DS could have been involved somehow.

I'm gonna make it to the game on Monday, guessing he'll get a mention, or a montage, great timing for me.

Yes, surely we can't remove Jacques Cloutier off the staff. After all his offensive prowess from the blue line in his career, the Flames defense would be lost.

The retirement announcement really isn't news. It was well-known last spring when LA Kings were eliminated from the playoffs.

My guess is a "Forever A Flame" ceremony.

From what it actually sounds like this will be his official retirement. Only coming back "into the fold" that Roger put in means he is retiring as a member of the Calgary Flames.

I didn't realize he owned that company. I've used their equipment many times.

Well, if that's the case then good on the Flames. Most NHL retirements are unceremonious.

Best case sinerio is the Flames signing Reggie to a 1 day contract so he can retire as a Flame.

Are they actually retiring his #? or are they putting him on the Forever a Flames list?

He's been playing some pickup games with my uncles beer league team. Its a full snapshot league and apparently he knocked a goalie over with his cannon one game.

Great to see that he's being brought back into the flames fold.

At this point, neither.

It is simply a press-conference in which he he announces his retirement.

An official number retirement or a 'forever a Flame' ceremony would take place before a game, not in a press conference.

We may see him get the "Forever a Flame" treatment at some point - and I will argue he is very deserving of it - but it will not be tomorrow.

Always loved Regehr. Would be interesting to see him join the Flames with an actual job, but yes, it is probably a one-day signing / retirement thing.

edit; neverminmd about the tomorrow thing - seems I don't possess reading comprehension these days.

As far as I understand the Flames aren't retiring anymore numbers. Only Mcdonald & Vernon are retired all numbers from now on will be that "honored" BS that they did with Macinnis & Nieuwy
