Gotta give Ferland a chance on the top line now. It should be obvious to the coaches, but 8 minutes together after being tossed on a line in the 3rd period is not enough time to make an evaluation.

Sadly, I don't have a lot of faith that the line was assembled by anything other than random chance and will just be a "just this once" thing.

Flames also need to upgrade the coaching staff along with the dead-weight before the club gets serious about contention.

Disagree strongly here. Coaching staff is the least of our concerns.

Oh and one more thing, get Bennett playing fricking centre! Is he going to be any more ineffective than Backlund is most nights? He has to learn how to play the position that he'll probably be occupying for the next 10 years now, not from next season onwards. What more is he gaining from playing on the wing? Get him and Gaudreau together, maybe stick Ferland along with them and roll with it against San Jose.

Cause if theres one thing they showed it's that they have one system that fails immediately if you clog up the neutral zone and pressure the D on the point?

Clearly we're tanking for a lottery pick cuz that's the only logical explanation of Wideman's ice time, especially on the PP.

Best PK'er for the opposition virtually every night.

I mean, you have to assume that if everyone else sees it, Hartley has to see it too...

A lot of missed calls by refs tonight and terrible passing by the Flames. Also thought the faceoffs were bad too. Would like to see Bennett try center now and Ferland on the top line and hopefully Frolik can come back by Monday.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Granlund-Bennett-Frolik

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Wideman - alway given, never earned. Flames must be trying to build up his trade value or Bob is being out coached. Bob needs to review the game videos to see how disgustingly slow and wide this guy is. It is amazing that an NHL player can be this slow without being benched or sent to the minors. Addition by deletion.

Meh. This team is missing 1/3 of its top 6 in Hudler and Frolik. It was apparent tonight.

Not really. They had poor passing and plenty of opportunities, they didn't play a good game. It has nothing to do with the system and everything to do with poor execution. Team has been one of the hottest teams in the last month and they don't execute worth the damn tonight and people call for the coaches head. Ridiculous.

That sucked. A lot like the Anaheim game, I thought the Flames effort was there, but execution and attention to detail were not. Arizona played a very strong defensive game, and used their size to keep the Flames to the outside.

I do not understand how Raymond is still on the team. He is a negative contributer at this point. There has got to be a better option on the farm.

Can we get Johnny and Brodie to play 60 minutes a game?

And our next game is against the Sharks, another team that knows how many liberties they can take.

I wonder if a healthy scratch might help Wideman. He does three good things and twenty bad things. He is one of our more experienced Dmen, he HAS to start playing like an experienced Dman.

And there HAS to be a plan when they play these kinds of teams. We used to suck against the Coyotes, then we beat them for a couple of years, and it looks like they are swinging back to being unbeatable to us. Oh well. Them's the breaks.
