Seeing many of the resolutions would be fitting for the Change Day Alberta campaign whereby you make a pledge (easy, free). The basic premise is small changes made to one's health (and/or the healthcare system) create a ripple that have the potential to lead to big change (and a big wave if ya will).

There's also a contest where ya can win stuff.

Anyway, I went on (and on...lol) about it in this thread.

I get giving up the other crap though. I did that last year. I never drink juice or pop or anything anymore. Just water.
Never drank them without cream or sugar -- and with that in them, they aren't a whole lot better than a juice.

Not taking a crack at you, honest comment here but would you consider taking them "black"?

It's more of an acquired taste but as mentioned they can have health benefits plus variety.

The biggest reason I've struggled in the past with not drinking pop or juice was variety from water.

But now I do try to stick to water, coffee/tea (black) and milk for protein.

Even a splash of milk isn't going to decrease the health factor and still changes the taste.

I cut out sugar in my coffee decades ago. Can't imagine going back anymore.

Cornell study says soda, junk food not why we're fat

http://news.cornell.edu/stories/2015...t-why-were-fat

For all but the most overweight and underweight individuals, the consumption of soda, candy and fast food showed no correlation to BMI.

“If you want to try and prevent obesity, or want to create policy that is going to help people, simply addressing the availability of junk foods and sodas isn’t going to do it,” says Just. “This isn’t the difference between fat people and skinny people. It’s other things.”

I can't stand black coffee.

I ended 2015 drinking plain tea (no sugar or milk) and just wasn't overly enjoying it either. Would always come home with a half full travel mug. I know stuff like green tea and chamomile and other herbals can be good for you plain -- maybe I'll introduce it back in later though. A month of drinking only water would probably make plain green tea taste magical.

And for the above -- I've also dramatically adjusted my breakfasts and lunches for healthier options. More fresh vegetables and fewer unhealthy carbs and processed meats in both. I haven't exercised much at all and I'm already down 4 pounds, feeling pretty good about keeping it rolling!

Also eating egg rolls leads to dog ownership.

Interesting study by Cornell though that would be worth pursuing further. Is it just more calories in general that overweight people eat or more specific calories. You would need to do some controlled studies to really find out though.

It also could be skinny people reasoning as I know if I want to drop 10 pounds of weight accumulation I just stop drinking sugar and eating out and it disappears. So any biological triggers where they apply to skinny people may not apply to obese people.

I dropped about 14lbs before Christmas. (Started at 248 in October). I'd like to lose another 15lbs over the next few months.

I'm starting the Wim Hof method. Wim "The Ice Man" Hof has been gaining attention for his seemingly superhuman ability to resist the cold and his openness to scientific scrutiny.

I'm pretty excited about this, I can't think of any other 'mind over matter' guru who's not only stood up to, but flourished under scientific scrutiny, less excited about the daily cold showers.

WHY?

There is definitely some BS surrounding Wim, I have noticed that he always presents his data in the most flattering way possible, but who doesn't? I'm completely satisfied that their is enough substance to his method to drop $250.

His method ties a lot of concepts I'm interested in into a single package: mind over matter, physiology, the healing qualities of the cold, I also have crohn's (a disease related to the immune system, Wim says his method is of the greatest value to people with autoimmunity problems).

I'm not expecting miracles, but I can see myself picking up some skills that would improve my quality of life.

Keep me posted friend, I also have Crohn's so would love to hear about your take on this.
