It used to be the car makers targeted the men in their commercials. Later it's become the women and GM has taken it one step further by targeting the kids.
Car commercials used to talk about things like performance, driving ability, quality, and technological advancements under the hood.
Now they barely even mention the actual car anymore. I guess people just don't care. If it can't find a restaurant for you, put your kids in a zombie state, or you can't swing your leg to open the hatch, it's worthless.

I want to enter that bar with a tiger torch, find the hipster with the toque and orange shirt, and burn that stupid beard of his off so I never have to see it again.

The other thing is it seems that every vehicle has some kind of award that they put into the commercial. "This car won the (insert company you never heard of but has a cool acronym) award for car of the year"
Military supplies are determined by Government contracts sooo....the lowest bidder?
Military grade refers to 5000 and 6000 series grade aluminum, primarily used by the military. GM and Chrysler have been using the same aluminum for years in their hoods and other body parts. GM has filed patents for their own all aluminum bodied truck, which we will see in the near future.
That Scotiabank commercial where the kid takes his father on a road trip.
I'll just move some things around and save you an additional 1500 dollars.
It's like poof! She doesn't ask him any questions, or determine his needs. WTF? If it was that easy why didn't you do that before? Were you actually robbing him?
I'll just do some computer bank magic and save you 1500 dollars. Cause you asked.
So stupid.

"Military Grade" is just a marketing term, it's not an actual standard. Mil-spec or Mil-std are actual standardization terms used by the US military. And as Locke said, military spec rarely ever equates to highest quality.
In the end, just another marketing gimmick to feed the whole tough truck angle for all those manly men out there.
There's an awful commercial on the fan 960 where they play loud stomach digestion noises while talking about dodgy burritos from gas stations. Makes me ill every time, not even sure what they're advertising I just mute the sound for 20 seconds as soon as I hear the guy's voice.
