Conroy, Pascall, Burke can surely speak on his behalf.
Haven't really been keeping track of who's where given the holidays.

Why do they even have to talk just because they are in town?
Phone seems to work fine in most cases for working out a trade.

Skype, phone calls, I'm sure Brad is on top of everything even in Finland. It's not like Connie and Pascal cannot do the paperwork in his absence. He just needs to give the okay and present it to Burke to okay.

Because it's not uncommon that trades get worked out between two clubs when/prior to them meeting on the ice.
Probably because of having two management groups in the same building. Surely more effective at moving something along than playing phone tag.
Look no further than the Flames' last trade for Freddie from the Avs on the same eve when they were in Denver.

@TBTimes_JSmith: #TBLightning Cooper on Drouin request: "It's tough as a coach when somebody wants out." Says he was surprised, too. Would welcome him back

all very different situations though. With St. Louis, there were a lot of rumours surrounding him being upset because Yzerman originally didn't pick him for Sotchi, but I'm not sure how true those rumours were. With Stamkos, I believe a lot of it is about money (they don't have a lot of cap space, Kucherov is due for a big raise and others are RFA too) ... I remember that when he signed his current contract, negotiations weren't really smooth either. I firmly believe that he's looking for a Kane/Toews type of deal and I'm pretty sure he won't get that in Tampa. And finally, Drouin is unhappy with his playing time and doesn't seem to be Coopers biggest fan.
So ... three very different scenarios. Don't think there's a problem in general in Tampa, Yzerman has been able to lock up every other core player with relative ease.

Ok, bust is too strong of a term, but he is trending to be a disappointment based on his draft position. Compared to MacKinnon, Monahan, Jones, Lindholm and Barkov, he's having the most difficulty adjusting to the NHL. I wouldn't want to risk a potential lottery pick for him.

I posted this thought in the rychel thread, but I wonder if drouin was in the red wings system if he would be more patient based on thier model of grooming players, or if he still be asking for a trade because he and his advisors figure he is ready to be a full time nhl'r

I agree short term there appears to be several better options. I am shocked Tampa did not draft Jones when they had the chance.
Looking at the rest of the top 10 I don't see Nashville trading Jones, Carolina trading Lindholm, the Flamea trading Monahan, Oilers trading Nurse, Sabres trading Ristolinen. Maybe the stars would trade Nikushkin and maybe the Canucks would trade Horvat for Drouin but it is doubtful. The Yotes who took Domi 12th would be not trade him for Drouin.
That was a crazy deep draft in the top half of the first round. Having said all of that Drouin has an incredibly high ceiling but needs time to develop to reach it. He appears impatient and the fact so many that were drafted after him are excelling is likely a reason why

Brooks says that the Rangers are very interested in Drouin and speculates they could trade Yandle and/or their 2016 1st (which would mean that Arizona gets their 2017 pick, because the Rags can decide whether to send them their 2016 or their 2017 1st for the Yandle deal last season).

tampa won't want an overpriced UFA for Drouin. That would be a first for Drouin and a rental...lots of other teams can and will give up more.

The Rangers first round pick will likely be bottom 10 and I would have to think Yzerman would rather have a player further along and not a pending UFA like Yandle.

Are the Rangers never planning to pick in the 1st round again?

I've never understood this type of thinking...
They can trade Backlund, a proven NHL'er on a decent contract. They can trade Poirier who has boat loads of potential and is developing nicely.
Or they can have Klimchuk who plays a Lance Bouma type game, has a lot of potential too..
But don't trade our 1st round pick that will likely be no better than Poirier or Klimchuk?
Assuming the Flames make the playoffs that is.

We're drafting 7th overall as of right now. Why would you believe a 7th overall pick would be worse than Poirier or Klimchuk, who are both trending to be busts?
