Install an on-demand water heater somewhere near or in the washrooms. I don't recall ever have hot water come out of the taps in the washroom near our seats.

I guarantee that if you put washroom facilities outside the concourse, even decent temporary ones, people would use them.
Look, I know for some of you, you don't want to acknowledge that the Saddledome is going to be in use for a while yet. But it's kind of like your next car... too far off not to ignore the oil change light on the car you're currently driving.

I'm a season ticket holder, honestly I really have very few qualms about the saddledome apart from the relative lack of adequate numbers of toilets. As a fan I tend to go to only a couple of the same concessions each time, so the concourse seems just fine to me. Yeah, it's a bit tight, but not that bad. The west entrance could use a bit more space especially in light of the added security now and longer lines to get in, but all this is pretty minor.
Don't get me wrong, I would be happy too having a completely updated and more functional arena, but I'm also just fine with the saddledome experience, especially if it means relatively lower ticket prices.

That doesn't' change the fact that atco trailers being side saddled up to the Saddledome isn't ridiculous

The stench alone come from the portalets would keep fans from using them or standing near them.

For the team the biggest problem is the small lower bowl, but you may as well implode the thing then to renovate to totally different seating.
The only real option is a new building but from what I'm told they need to come up with a plan B.

By temporary, I wasn't meaning portalets (note the term "decent"). There are some industrial trailers that could easily be plumbed into the building lines. No stench required.
It would of course be better to build extensions for the 100 stalls as proposed earlier, but the Flames would of course rather save their money. Besides, if they keep the status quo, the lines for bathrooms make a pretty good illustration for the desperate need for a new stadium. Build the washroom extensions, and they lose their best argument.

Reason: Reference to using the term "decent".

I'm not paying $150 to s*** in any Atco trailer. I'd rather be at work.

Enclose the outside walkway and fill with toilets. Heck, build it up two stories and provide toilets to the 2nd level as well. Give management of all concessions over to Spolumbo's as they provide the only editable food in the entire place. Remove all of the trucks from the concourse. And the dome would become infinitely better!

I've attended some golf tournies in the States that use that and believe me it's not much of an upgrade. The smell is still there as that heavenly aroma rises from the tanks that store all the urine and feces. Further they would not be plumbed into the existing lines due to the cost if it's a temporary measure like the Dome would be.
The smell is enough to knock a buzzard off a #### wagon!

This was done during the big SC playoff run in 2004. Worked great during the admittedly warm spring then - you just had to have your ticket for re-entry. Was pretty unobtrusive, and staying on top of cleanouts would address smells. Not great for the ladies and -25 nights though.
The lack of toilets is easily my biggest issue with the Dome - I'd drink a lot more beer if the ability to whiz didn't take 20 minutes out of a game. I'd have to think beer sales would go up if they did this again.
I highly doubt a rolling Atco structure would ever be considered - too much, in all regards...

The best thing about the Saddledome's design is how efficiently it uses the available space. The interior volume of the building is small for a 20,000 seat arena. The problem with this is that there isn't any extra space to add anything within the existing footprint of the building.
One thing I wish they could figure out is how to redesign the entrances to the men's rooms in the corners. They're huge, but because they blocked one end off to add a couple more ladies' stalls to the building, the single entrance just isn't adequate to move people through efficiently, so most of the facilities inside go underused. The line stretches down the concourse, and once you get inside, the place is usually deserted.

It's not like they'd be removing the existing washrooms. If using an Atco trailer for a bathroom is beneath you, then simply join the queue for the nice ones.

Using one of those trailers isn't beneath me, believe me I've spent my time in one at -40. The issue I have with your idea is paying to use it. If I would rather not use one (someone who has spent over a decade working outside) what makes you think Joe blow would want to? Would you go to a restaurant that only used trailers as bathrooms? I wouldn't pay big bucks for that.

I can still remember the day when the Saddledome was the best arena in the NHL. Oh have time changed...
On a side note I great wait to travel to Edmonton for a Flames game next season!

Hot water, more bathrooms and better food seems to be the flavor here, fact is those things could be fixed with ease, the Flames could care less about those things and actually having those problems just gets the public on their side for a new barn.
It's plain and simple, they want 3000 more lower bowl seats, more luxury suites and more control.
Oh, and they would love for you to chip in!
