This is what passes for a newsworthy trade in 2016, because trading just doesn't happen anymore.
It's a shame.

Morin seemed to be in Q's permadoghouse the FIRST time we had him...why Stanbo reacquired him was a total mystery to many 'Hawk fans...of course, some fans thought that success at lower levels would carry on up to the NHL, this remains to be seen...I wouldn't bet on grand success for Morin.
Q gets grief for "hating young players"...this is NOT true...Guys like Saad, Teravainen, Kruger, Panarin, Van Reimsdyk, and others got early chances with Q at the helm, and the common thread for all these was responsibility in BOTH ends of the ice...Guys like J. Hayes, Morin, Pirri, and others, just never seemed to back check with any effectiveness.
Even a guy like Kane seems to be working at improving in defensive effort...the Q's doghouse guys didn't seem to "get it".
On this deal...the feeling is that Mashinter will lose his roster spot to Panik...and Mashinter seemed to bring NOTHING AT ALL to the table...so...there is little risked. Q says that Panik will get a try at LW. and I wouldn't be shocked to see him with fellow Slovak, Marian Hossa, and Toews for a trial. That Morin, a LW by trade, never got called to fill the 'Hawks critical need at LW, was proof Q's disdain for the guy

Yeah, just the seventh trade since the start of October. Last season we had more than double that. Then again I don't really miss it that much. And the summer was pretty busy.
