The Oilers won and the Sabres lost. Columbus is winning and the Leafs are tied.

5 points up on CBJ
2 points up on Buffalo
1 point up on EDM/TOR

Crosby scores to make it 2-0 Pens.

Don't look now but Sid has 9 points in his last 7 games.

And those Pens jerseys are so nice.

4-0 Pens now. I always wished the Flames signed Matt Cullen, at least for one season. Still better than Jokinen.

It is now 4-0 for the Penguins, two goals in 32 seconds, one on the power play and the other was shorthanded!

It is also 3-0 for the Panthers.

The Capitals and BJs are tied 2-2, all goals in the first period.

The Blues and Leafs are still scoreless.

Panthers up 3-0 over the Rangers despite being outshot 21-12 partway through the second. Lots of secondary scoring with goals from Pirri, Trocheck, and Shaw, and not a single point from the big 3 of Jagr, Barkov, and Huberdeau.

Shaw was a good pickup. Is Tallon still GM?

Yup.

You know it's Logan Shaw, right? 23 year old, only 3rd season pro.

Good news for the Panthers, he has signed for a three year extension.

Want to know what defense and goaltending will do for you?

The Panthers are 14-0-1 when scoring 3 goals in a game. Likely to be 15-0-1.

Man...the Flames need to clean up the defense.

Funny how everyone was saying that we had the best d-corps in the NHL before the season. Not anymore.

Offensively, I believe that to be true. Defensively, they're mediocre. The team defense is the major problem. That's how you keep goals against down.

Team defense is about systems, not personnel.

The Flames have talented players on defense. But I am not a fan of their passive zone coverage in their own zone.

Corban Knight with a nice chance on the 2 on 1. He now has 4 points in 8 games this year and has settled into a 3rd line center role pretty well on the club, making Dave Bolland expendable.

Did we give up on him too soon?

It helps that it's the New York Rangers and it's also the holidays with plenty of visitors from the New York area.

Still, I'm pretty sure they'll fill the building relatively well the rest of the year, which is encouraging.

Yes, I think we did. Shore was a lesser version of Knight IMO. I never understood what people saw in Shore. Big guy that could skate, but didn't use his body with any regularity, and didn't have the hands to make a play. Knight brought all the same qualities but was at least good in the face-off dot. The thing I liked about Knight was his IQ. I thought he read the game better than Shore.

Franchise record 8th straight win for the Panthers!

Luongo with 39 saves for the shutout. Incredible performance from him tonight.

No points for the big 3 of Barkov, Jagr, and Huberdeau, yet the team scores 3 goals.

Good depth, good team play, strong in their own zone, excellent goaltending, and a very good top line (most nights). This is a team that could really make some noise this year.
