They haven't been bad, but They're definetley riding In Johnny's wake. Don't know if Hudler's fighting an injury, but something is missing especially in a contract year.

Disagree. Ferland was one of our best wingers in November but incredibly snakebitten. When he was sent down Treliving flat out told him they were going to try to move a vet to get him back up full time. That vet was Curtis Glencross. I wouldn't be surprised if Treliving has similar plans for Hathaway vs Jones this year.

Yes! But in gear, and on Ice together, not rookies sharing a sink and a razor time.

Now that the media has brought up Iggy at 599. I fully expect 600 to be scored tonight, since the Flames historically notorious for getting milestones against them. Lets hope it is in a 4-1 win for the Flames though.
2 pts in regulation is what j am hoping for.

In OOT, stupid Oilers get SO win against the Yotes. All these Pacific teams getting points of late, Flames need to get 2 points tonight to keep pace and not fall too far back.

Maybe they see things in his game that throwing him to the wolves would do more harm than good. He is a much more instinctual than cerebral player, maybe that has something to do with it.

There's been some quotes from Hartley recently about why Bennett hasn't seen time at centre.
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=794737
Quote:
Bennett was auditioning as second-line center in September but was returned to left wing on the third line. Hartley wants to see Bennett ultimately succeed at his natural center position.
"He has to learn the difference where he needs to pressure hard and where he needs to play his job as a center," Hartley told the Calgary Herald. "Even though our system is based on pressure and speed, our center doesn't have to go full speed all the time. Sammy wants to go hard, but sometimes you put yourself out of position."
|
At 2:20 Hartley says the next step is to get him at centre, once the timing is right.

Not sure I agree in this case.
Hartley's system is all about positioning and lanes (as opposed to pressure, boxing out, and physical play).
Hartley's concern with Bennett's play at centre is that he is too aggressive and physical. Personally, I don't want to see Hartley coach that out of him.

I think the best bet is to have him play all 82 games if he stays healthy.
Bennett can't have surgery on that shoulder again. It will drastically shorten his career.

Thats fair I suppose. Not to stifle some good discussion, I just try not to over analyze coaching decisions like this. It sounds like they have a specific reason for the positioning that is meant to ultimately make him a better NHL centre. I'm OK with that.
If I were to counter your argument I would say that I don't think anybody is suggesting that Hartley is coaching the aggressiveness out of Bennett. It's an asset. Everybody knows that. But he has to channel it correctly, you can't just skate around like it's a Chinese fire drill. The same way the Dmen have to pick their spots on when to pinch or join the rush, Bennett needs to learn when to pick his spots.

Hope it is 5-0 Flames with Monahan hat trick and Bennett with 2 goals and then late in the 3rd Iggy makes it 5-1 and that is the final score

But that's the thing - Bennett doesn't run around. He simply plays aggressively. But Hartley's defensive strategy is 5 guys standing in lanes hoping to intercept a pass.

Indemand is showing the HNIC feed for the Jets-Sharks game. When there are two or more HNIC games in each timeslot, the american CI carriers only show one HNIC feed.

Flames desperately need these 2 points. Just get 'em. I don't care how.
