My aunt is an accountant with Safeway (Sobeys) and I asked her this exact question. With no more Safeway club memberships, how do you even enter the contest? I told her that since apparently people win vacuums and such with every goal scored, surely Safeway allocates a portion of their budget for these prizes. She must see these numbers. She had no idea this contest even existed. She's never heard of it, nor had any discussion about it at work with any of her colleagues. Pretty fishy if you ask me.
I'm 100% convinced it's fake. How is it that every game it seems to be someone in some small town that wins, instead of it regularly being people from the big metropolis of Calgary? Every name seems fake. Me and my buddies laugh at the names that pop up. Last game it was some guy with a Punjabi first name, then a Russian last name. Possible? Sure. But it happens every damn game! It's like their not even trying. I've never met, not know anybody, who knows anyone who's won.
My aunt said she is specifically going to ask her boss at work about this contest and report back to me. But I'm certain it's all fake.
Looks like we're opening another can of worms!
There's not enough popcorn to follow two threads

For that matter, Bennett could be better at age 20 than as a 19-year-old rookie. Yeah, I know, crazy talk.
I never said he wouldn't be better. But he might get 30 points this year, so jumping beyond 50 next year would be a big leap. Who else on the team looks to score at that pace? I dont see Hudler coming back and Backlund/Frolik top out at 40. Look at what Niewendyk had for a support cast when he pulled it off.

I've often wondered about the validity of score and win as well. I think it's been around since the 90's and we've spent thousands at Safeway since. You think I'd have a Bulova by now??
The score 5 goals/win a mil. thing reminds me of Lanny's buy a vehicle and if it snows 10 feet or whatever, everyone wins $10,000. Not happening any time soon. I guess that's the whole idea!

To be sure, but he's right at the age for making big leaps; particularly if the team is forced to give him top minutes every night because they're that short of scorers. If he spends next season as the #2 C with first-unit PP time, he could pull it off.

The assumption has been that Hudler would not be back because he would demand a big pay rise for his '14-15 stats. Now that he's returned to more or less normal, I can't imagine anyone offering him that kind of overpayment. It's entirely possible that the Flames will be able to re-sign him for roughly the same money he's making now.
Frolik has topped 40 points four times in his career, but never hit 50, so I'll give you that point as amended. Backlund I agree about.
The real question is whether the team brings in top-line talent in a trade or through free agency. Nobody expects them to – but then, nobody expected them to acquire Hamilton last summer. Certainly Treliving knows that the need is there, and he's shown considerable cunning and creativity in filling such needs.

Scoring five goals in a game is a fluke at the best of times. The supporting cast doesn't have all that much to do with flukes. The Wings had a good roster when Franzen scored five in a game in 2010-11, but they were nothing like the offensive juggernaut that was the late-80s Flames.
It's very unlikely that Gaudreau will ever score five goals in an NHL game. But it's not impossible, and the odds are not much different at one time than another. He's pretty nearly as likely to do it next year (or even this year) as any other year.

It seems legit enough. I'm guessing they are banking on the odds of someone scoring 5 in a game being extremely low. And even so, a million dollars paid out over 20 years isn't a big hit to that company's bottom line.

Nieuwendyk scored on whatever team he played. Certainly the scoring dropped off with age but Nieuwendyck was a very skilled player.
They never called him Joe "Score 'em when you Like" Nieuwendyck for nothing.

That's a lot of really bad food that's also pretty bad for you. You're more likely to die from the diabetes before you'd ever win.
Yogurt, cereal, pasta sauce, laundry detergent, peanut butter, tuna, margarine, granola bars, cracker barrel cheese, fruit juice... Literally everything I listed is in my house right now. Somehow I hope to keep the diabeetus at bay.
