Might be a long time until a coach from Western Canada coaches team Canada again.

I slightly disagree. A coach can create a culture of discipline to avoid dumb mistakes in the ice. I feel like Coach Lowry was just not ready for the job. He looked like a deer in headlights.

Meh... they deal with losses all the time. The odd heckler might say something but its not going to harm them forever. If they win - they get the rewards and if they lose - they may get a few heckles after today when people blow off steam.

All insults aside, but Virtanen's playing style and shoulder injury history are not likely to lead to a long career.

I had my shoulder repaired last summer after 7 or 8 dislocations and I can tell its never going to feel right.

Feel bad for Hicketts as that's just bad luck. No excuses for Virtanen and Marner.
When a guy takes two extremely stupid penalties like Virtanen you expect a coach to send a message to the bench that it will not be tolerated yet he puts Virtanen right back on the ice. Is it any wonder this team had no discipline or composure?

I have to channel my inner Tortorella and claim that Canada could have won that if we could have gotten a freaking save occasionally.

0.793 SV%.

6 goals on 23 shots.

Bad goaltending. Poor discipline. Boneheaded coaching.

Hicketts more boneheaded play was at the end of the game when he went in super deep while the puck was on the otherside of the ice and it led to Finland having an easy clear.

It's hard to blame the coach for the stupid, brainless penalties taken in this game. These players aren't new to pressure situations. Ya it's the biggest stage they've ever been in but really they've been in pressure situations throughout their lives (I'm assuming these guys have played in various championship games, tourneys etc) So it's not like they dont' know....THEY KNOW not to do that dumb ####.

Canada gets 2 wins, only one in regulation time against Denmark, they other was against the lowest finishing team, Suisse, and that took a shoot out.

I feel like that goal the Finns scored at the end of the 1st was a turning point. There were many turning points after that, yes, but Canada was in complete control until that point.

Its not his style, every team loves to have a player that's willing to be physical and push that edge.

He's just not smart enough to play that style and understand that there are times to be an idiot, and times to have discipline in your game.

And you really can't learn that. You can't teach brains.

Defintely makes no sense, but all was lost when Blackwood was in net for ALL 6 goals....Lowry is not a good coach.

At least our goalie didn't get lit up in the elimination game. Hickey had a good tourney.

It's just such a dominant winter sport in Norway. It's like the national pastime in winter. The population is too small, then, to sustain a hockey talent pool so the game hasn't really grown there. It's a shame, I'd like to see them get better.

The geography plays a big role here as Sweden, Finland, Denmark are mostly flatland whilst Norway is more or less one huge mountain range.

If the Flames can draft Puljujarvi I don't mind losing every game the rest of this season except against the Oilers, Canucks, and Ducks.

And Leafs, Habs, Sens, Jets, Coyotes, Blues.

Let's keep our streak against the Devils and Preds going too.

Laine, Matthews and Puljujarvi are the golden parachutes the Flames have a shot at if they miss the playoffs. I'm all for whatever happens at the end of the year but man oh man would this team be freaking insane with one of those three in a Flames Jersey. Then, even if they do miss and end up say picking 5-10, there's Alexander Nylander just hanging out.
