Long story short, because they specialize too early by focusing on goalie fundamentals like positioning instead of basic sports fundamentals like athleticism and reading the play.

I still think Mason in net and this game is 3-0 though. No Homer.

Are you expecting elite goaltending every year? Not going to happen. Finland's had terrible goaltending this tournament.

Outside of the 3rd goal I don't think black wood has been bad. Maybe a little weak on the first goal.

I also think that we haven't had real stellar goal tending over the past several years, when we've won gold it's because it's been just good enough. Can't remember the last 'lights out' goalie

some of the years where we had top goaltending / top goals against, were years we had really good teams, good team defense and didn't allow that many good chances.

Been thinking about it recently. It's good to see that Finland and Sweden being a force in hockey with Denmark putting out some talent (see Russia game). Is there reason why Norway isn't that into hockey? Being Nordic etc.?

These are all pretty small countries. Denmark, Norway and Finland don't have many more people than Alberta. Hard to pull together enough players with that small of a population.

given how the game has gone for Blackwood and the severe momentum shifts, Lowry refusing to not call a time out or change goalies....what does that say about his confidence in Mason Macdonald?
