Colborne or Bollig shoudl get waived
Jooris probably will get waived, and then claimed, and then find success on another team's roster.

Colborne is pretty bad at hockey and every game that passes just makes it all the more clear.

I feel for Colborne
Last year he looked as if his ceiling was so much higher than where we was playing as he continued to improve. This year he has had some of those games and some games where he just throws his whole line out of sync.
The reason I feel for him is because I do not feel he is being used properly. He is a good 4th line player. Down low cycle with non skilled players is where he has had his best games this year. As soon as you stick some skill on his line, he changes his game and can't keep up skill wise.
As soon as he starts getting fancy it leads to a turnover. When he is down low throwing it along the boards with Jones/Stajan the often get some sort of scoring chance and if not, at least the 4th line is keeping it in the offensive zone which is all you can ask.

Hoping it's Raymond but probably Granlund.
I also don't get the hate on for Joe but such is life. Every year needs an irrational whipping boy.

He's one of the bottom 3 forwards on the team. Colborne, Raymond, Bollig
I guess I could add Raymond to my list but he was already waived along with Byron at the start of the year and cleared. No point in trying again. Also never been convinced the ownership group is willing to bury big money in the A. We've got a lot of top 6-type prospects in Stockton already and a few of them are on the 3rd, 4th lines down there in favor of some AHL lifers.

I like Colborne and I like what he can bring to the bottom line. He can move up and down the lineup in case of injuries and although not as important as in prior years, he is lethal in the shootout.
Most importantly to me at least, the guy's salary is in line with what he brings to the team. Which differentiates him significantly from Raymond, as well as Stajan and Backlund although to a lesser extent.
In a perfect world, you replace the $10 million you spend on Raymond, Stajan and Backlund with Granlund, another young player and then one high end elite forward. That's how this team takes the next step.
Of course still have to move other $'s around to re-sign Gaudreau and Monahan.
Sorry for getting off topic.

Of course it should be Raymond, but when he passes through waivers AGAIN, you know he will back on the team being fed PP minutes and totally blasting apart the "always earned, never given" mantra.

Colborne had some giveaways, but he was also part of the line tasked with controlling Getzlaf and Perry last night, which was largely accomplished. He's not bad defensively, he is a decent forechecker, he is great in faceoffs when called upon, and he is not a bottom 3 player. He's at least ahead of Jooris and I suspect you'd get a taker for him over Granlund from other teams.

I think it will be Bolig. Colborne is not being waived, sure the guy isn't having a great year but why would we give him away ? He must have trade value at least.

Don't think it will be-or should be- Bollig. At least he has size:/

But he plays less than Jooris. So waiving isn't detracting much.

Waiving is. It about trying to get someone to pick up the player. And you can't hide money in the A anymore, I think. Not that the Flames need to right now anyway.

I'm curious and perhaps you or Corsi can help - out of the players being discussed like Raymond, Colborne, Bollig and Jooris, who has the best and worst advanced stats over the last half season?

He definitely didn't earn the contract he was handed, totally agree there. I just don't think it's fair to put all the blame on Hartley because Raymond is crap.
What is the coach supposed to do with a guy who 29 other teams don't want, and the GM refuses to send down? Treliving should sack up and make the necessary roster change. Ownership probably isn't keen on burying another 3m in the minors (Kotalik 2.0) but Granlund deserves to stay with the big club.

That's the kind of real life scenario that I think a lot of fans forget. I sure do sometimes. The owners have other enterprises that probably aren't doing too good these days, and they ain't too keen to basically throw away 3 million bucks in the minors. When the GM proposes that move, they probably hum and haw and ask him if there is another way to make it work.
No doubt in my mind the owners want to win, and they would ultimately do whatever it takes, but they are also probably asking more salary questions now than they do when oil is $100+ per.
I bet Raymond stays on the big club until the deadline at which point he is traded for scraps or simply waived and assigned.

Hartley can bench him as he did last night. Hartley can stop feeding him PP time. Hartley can play him on the fourth line giving him 6-8 mins a night. A lot of things Hartley is in control of. Treliving isn't in control of Raymonds icetime as far as we know.

Sorry waiving is what?
Yes I agree it's about getting someone to pick up the player, or gauge interest and then work out a trade. Raymond wasn't picked up and wasn't traded so clearly the interest level there is zero.
It's not about the salary cap relief, it's the real money being paid by the owners to a guy the GM signed, to play in the AHL. Kotalik 2.0 as someone else has brought up

Of course he is. Raymond doesn't have to be on the roster at all. Icetime=0.
