ANA just like STL and LA are a bad match up for the Flames.
Anyone else and they have a much better chance.

Bennett hitting the crossbar was the difference sadly. We struggled with getting much generated, especially second chances off of rebounds.

Felt like only a couple chances with someone parked in front since the Ducks rushed us so much.

Regroup and bring it vs LA.

We'll win the next game, Anaheim was not very good. Hopefully Hartley changes his strategy because many other strategies will work. The Flames were playing a game where they made unforced errors due to being intimidated by an opposing system, change the entry strategy, change unforced errors (e.g. just pivot back into our own zone or pass it back when they stand us up at the blueline, since they're playing weak on offense just play slower breakouts and create speed with multiple passes)

The trap is his last gasp at a job. Boudreau just can't coach a team to a cup.

If this year's team had a powerplay in even the top 15-18, teams would respect them. Hack and slash will work against Calgary until the powerplay gets going. Refs can't call them all.

Massively frustrating game but I loved the response from Wideman. Hartley can be a very stubborn coach.

Ugh...I recorded this one but I think I'll just skip it looking at the stats and the responses in this thread.

Haven't we played LA pretty good in the last few years?

Congratulations to the Ducks, they came into the arena of a middle of the road team and went into full on shut down mode. Bruce Boudreau, you and your cup contenders must be very proud that you had to resort to such d-bag tactics to get a win.

They, like St Louis, are just a team of pretenders. Be funny when LA or Chicago beat them in the play offs yet again, if they even make it in.

I thought we did ok tonight, not a lot we can do when we have a middle size team that relies on its speed and we come up against those sorts of tactics. We made fewer mistakes and gave up fewer shots than we did most nights, Ramo was good I thought and physically, we matched up as best we could.

There are people much more attune to hockey tactics, so what do you do against a defensive team playing a trap defence like that?

Yep, but right now the Kings are playing incredible hockey. Will be a major challenge Flames will need their best game of the year.

Worst 5 match ups for this team in order. LA would be higher but despite their physicality we've managed to get some results vs them the past few years.

Any team with Kesler and/or Bieksa on it simply won't win a Cup. They aren't winners. They're entitled whiners who think they're better than they actually are.

On the plus side, this implosion of the Ducks is fantastic. They were poised to be power houses, but the contract they gave Kesler is large enough, and long enough to cripple them for the next half decade.

That being said - Coach Hartley needs to find an answer for teams that clog up the neutral zone. It's beyond maddening to watch stretch pass after stretch pass fail, become a turn over, or end up in an icing call against us.

One more thing I'll say and then never bother to repeat again because I know how annoying it is to read someone rag on a player over and over again:

Joe Colbrone is bad at hockey. Outside of Hudler, he is the laziest back checker on this entire team. He's a turnover machine, and quite frankly - I'd prefer to see Mason Raymond in that roster spot. In the era of "Always earned, never given", Joe Colborne inexcusably continues to get prime minutes (PP included). He is not part of the long term solution here.
