I played Le Havre with the kids last night again, and it's still disappointing, now that we understand the game. Too long, too slow, and there's just no payoff. My most regretful board game purchase.

The wife's ultra-competitive family is obsessed with this game at family gatherings. Anyone else played it?
Kind of like a more hardcore team-based version of Sorry or Trouble.
I pretty much only play it if they're missing a player, or if I'm being "forced" to play. LOL

Has anyone ever played the game Class Struggle? It is to Marxism what Monopoly is to Capitalism. I found it years ago hiding in my parents game collection, and although the game play is pretty basic, the game becomes very entertaining when you start reading the hilarious chance cards which promote Marxism.

Going to post this here as well:
I am looking for the Star Wars: Imperial Assault board game on sale, so far all I can find is Amazon.ca for 20 bucks off. Anyone have any other recommendations?
I found Catan and all the expansions on sale at Indigo's website for 20% off if anyone is looking to build/expand that game series. You get an extra 10% off for using your Visa.

I've placed a few orders at this site and they tend to have great prices. http://www.greatboardgames.ca/brande...l-assault.html
The big thing though is that shipping to Alberta is $12. If you spend $200 you qualify for free shipping.
It's worth mentioning for anyone interested in getting into X-Wing that Chapters is selling the original core sets for $20 in store.

I played Puerto Rico last week and it was amazing, so if anyone knows where I can snag a copy on sale...

We play a game a friend of mine has called The Oilman Game. Very hard to find but a fun game to play. By far my favourite.

Thought I'd throw this in here: Calgary's first (?) board game cafe: www.pipscafe.com
Located in Marda Loop; $5 a person to play as many games as you want from their collection. They also have food/beverages as well.

www.boardgamegeek.com
Has a forum for buying or trading used games.
I don't find new board games to be very expensive relative to other entertainments.
Revolution Games has a reward program, $10 for every $100. Sentry Box has some kind of card but I'm not sure what discount it gives.
Puerto Rico is available as an iOS app.

I'm a regular attendee of Gamer Sundays at Dickens and Open Mondays at Sentry Box, so shout out to the venues that don't charge a cover and have game libraries available.
The Fallcon 365 group on Meetup has most of Calgary's events covered, Dickens is the notable exception.

So I ended up finding IP at a local store for 25% off, good enough. Played some missions last night, games awesome, highly recommend. This is my first DM style game despite playing these kinds of video games for years and years. Can't believe I waited this long!

What stores sell CAH? I see it on amazon but I want to secure it for NYE. Would Toys R Us sell this?

Officially the only place you can buy them is off their website. You're going to get gouged on the price but you can find them at Discovery Hut and Sentry Box.

Also a place called "Sarah's Gourmet Gift Shop" in Westbrook mall. (No, really). My wife picked up a copy there and they have a bunch of cool games. We picked up Exploding Kittens there this year. Great fun.

Star Wars Monopoly.
A lot of fun. Interesting game play dynamic that only allows for 4 players/2 teams, but the game is much faster.

Sentry Box sells it but I'm not sure if they currently have it in stock.
