I just randomly thought of something.
How did Kylo Ren get Vader's mask? I assume we'll find out at some point in EP 8 or 9, but it just dawned on me. I suppose he asked Luke for it while he was still in Jedi training? But seems odd.

Haha yup. To me it's a fitting name.
Obi Wan Kenobi
Max von Sydow
Qui gon Jinn
Truth be told, Luke's name is one that seems like it doesn't belong.

Lots of questions to asked like that.
How did the old lady get Luke's first lightsaber? Vader chopped off the hand holding it in Cloud City and it fell into that massive pit.
How did the Falcoln get stolen not once but 3 times to end up on Jakku of all places?

I can see it now, training montage scene:
-Luke takes Rey back to Hoth to start training using what's naturally around
-Kylo training in some hi-tech Sith facility with fancy computers monitoring everything
-Montage culminates in Rey running up a mountain and shouting "KYLO!" upon reaching the top.

I understand that Phasma is not dead and will be back in subsequent films.

I can't wait for the scene where Rey is running through the forest with Luke bundled up on her back.

Yes, there's also the rumor that an actress named 'Gugu Mbatha-Raw' has been cast for Episode 8. They couldn't possibly find anyone with a more weird, Star-Wars'y name to be in that movie lol.

Also, how can Kylo Ren not know about Vader's redemption? Surely, if Luke told him about Vader, he also told him how he was redeemed and accepted the light before his death.
So many questions! How the eff are we supposed to wait 2 years for answers?

His hope was the the youngling that he hid away on Jakku would one day find him and he would train her. He hid himself away so that she would need to prove she is worthy by finding him. I also believe Snoke knows this, and that's why he told Hux to bring Ren to him to complete his training. Episode 8 will be an epic showdown between two highly trained force users.
Of course, the only way this theory holds water is if Luke wiped her memory, or at least blocked any memory of him and the academy, then set her up with a foster family. Not sure if this is possible or even morally correct by Jedi standards, so we definitely need an uber nerd to clarify. Probably CC.
The only other possibility with that theory is that Luke recognized her force ability while she was a baby/toddler, and Ren when on his attack at the same time. He hides her away, and she has no memory because she was too young at the time.
In my world, Luke is the next Yoda so he would have remained strictly adherent to Jedi code of no attachment and no children. That's why I think Rey isn't his child. Furthermore, it would be a little silly for Leia and Han to constantly mention their son, but not their daughter. I don't believe Ray is a Skywalker.

That`s an interesting theory. I was also thinking she was someone who was identified early and hidden from Ren/Snoke.
As for the last part, I think there`s still a possibility even if slim that she could be Luke`s. I have a feeling she isn`t a Skywalker but it is still possible.
Luke plays a similar role to Yoda or old Obiwan, but isn`t the same. He wasn`t brought up under a strict and always monitored Jedi code, and there wasn`t a Jedi council around to scold him or tell him no. He has always been known to follow his impulses and emotions more than the traditionally raised Jedi. If she has met Luke before it`s also possible he used the force to block her memory to protect her. He may have been desperate to save some force sensitives from the dark side.

He could see it as Vader's mistake. He dies because he didn't kill Luke and gave into the light side.

Are they treating any of the past universe as canon from the EU? Rey ends up being related to Uliq Qel-Droma?
Probably too much of a reach eh? And super nerdy...

Actually a bit less than two years! 521 days 9 hours and 8 mins as of this posting. But I agree the wait sucks.

Not only that, but I also read that the chest that Maz kept the lightsaber in was the very chest that Kenobi kept it in in A New Hope.

Anything is possible.
Early on there were rumors that they were casting a young female to play the descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I'd love it if Rey turned out to be a Kenobi.
Nerdist News said that the script for Episode 8 drew upon two episodes of The Clone Wars that featured Plo Koon and Ki-Adi-Mundi, but I would be surprised if this was true.

A complete memory wipe and giving someone a new identity and memories is a rather prominent story point in SW: KOTOR. So yes, both possible and already done by the Jedi in other Star Wars stories.
(This happening in the new trilogy would surprise me a bit though. Just wouldn't fit that well IMO.)

Really enjoyed the movie. I thought the casting was excellent and the dialogue was much better than the prequels. They captured the heart of the first set, with good banter and strong characters to build upon. It felt like Star Wars
I think the negatives were a necessary evil to reset the series. Too much exposition, but they needed to give some of the backstory to new viewers and connect the dots between old and new characters. I have no problem paying homage to the original, but please, please, no more death-star type super weapons with easily defeated design flaws. That issue, was the biggest one for me.
I think there is a chance that the next one will be better. No need for as much exposition and references/copying of the old material. I would hope/expect for:
-more interaction between Finn and Poe. Seemed like great buddy/buddy potential there
-I assume there will be a love interest with Rey (shwing!) and Finn or Poe. I am guessing Poe, as there seems to be a Leia/Han potential dynamic. Not sure they were in any scenes together, though
-Kylo getting more badass, as he learns his badass craft. I thought his weakness and temper tantrums were awesome and necessary in this one.
-More Luke. Actually worried about that part, as Hamill is horrible in the first episodes. Not sure he can actually act (other than he is excellent at whining).
