Dream big guys!

He will approach free agency in the summer, the media frenzy reaches a fever pitch and then just when it seems like he goes to Toronto, we start getting Twitter reports about the Flames randomly out of nowhere suddenly being finalists for Stamkos.

Then Bob McKenzie calmly reports that we traded Dennis Wideman, Jonas Hiller and Mason Raymond for the negotiating rights to Stamkos. CP, HF, and Twitter breaks.

Dream big.

Hey BigTuna... how's that 'best goalie tandem in the NHL' doing?

One goalie is doing great. The other stinks.

Back to the fact now that the Leafs have a great prospect pool...

No. My post was accurate.

Leafs 6th best.
http://thehockeywriters.c...ect-pools-power-rankings/

ESPN has the Leafs at #2 behind only the Oilers.
https://www.reddit.com/r/...ery_nhl_team_by_prospect/

Hockeysfutures has 2 Leafs in the top 10 list of NHL prospects.

By next summer with another top 5 pick and 11-12 other picks the Leaf will have the consensus best prospect pool in the entire NHL.

They should have a decent group of prospects, they've made the playoffs once in ten years. Usually garbage teams like that tend to accumulate young talent due to the NHL's draft system. Not sure if this is supposed to be a big surprise or something. Frankly, I'm shocked their pool doesn't look better considering how consistently bad they've been for so long.

The Oilers have had a great prospect pool for over 8 years now. How has that worked out?

Not sure how having the 2nd best prospect pool behind the Oilers makes for a lobbying argument for why Toronto is anything spectacular. Not sure what your point is BigTuna...that 4 1st overalls in 6 years is a good thing?

The Leafs are the Oilers east.

The Leafs haven't had a first overall in 30 years. So no they aren't the Oilers.

And here I thought we were talking about Stamkos, ended up in the Leafs prospects thread by accident.

What does Stamkos have to do with the Leafs prospect pool? Unless the Leafs plan on trading their 2 blue chippers for him. Which I wouldn't do. W.Nylander looks amazing.

And Marner has some hype to him as well. Although I'd love to see what he can do away from that Knights roster.

The Leafs would never trade for Stamkos. No point. They'll sign him.
An unsigned Stamkos will never fetch the equivalent of 1 top 10 NHL prospect, let alone two.

The Media has all but ensured Stamkos will never sign in Toronto.

Yeah sure. Things change when the entire focus is on you. The media have taken it to another level this year trying to build the hype machine.
If I was the NHL, I'd almost charge the Leafs with tampering since the media own the Leafs. It's been nothing but shameful and disgusting.

Do you really think it's any different than with Mike Babcock from a year ago?

And you can't punish the Leafs because their ownership's media reports on things with the team. You might as well ban Rogers from ever discussing the Leafs.

Steve Stamkos has "Liked" 3 different "Stamkos to Toronto" stories in the past 6 months. It's fair for the media to report on that. Stamkos himself has made this an even bigger story through Twitter. And no, I do not buy for a second he accidently "Liked" 3 stories about himself going to the Leafs.

Yes absolutely it is different than Babcock. Again, they've gone to another level just fabricating anything they can out of nothing other than the fans' hard on to get Stamkos in T.O.

And Rogers and TSN should be banned from talking Leafs. It would make for better overall sports coverage for the entire country.

I sincerely hope all your leaf fan hopes and dreamy Stamkos dreams get crushed on FA day, when he signs in MTL or OTT.
