Was it just me, or did it seem like Rey was always caught with some wide-eyed, bug-eyed look on her face. I actually started to find it distracting, wondering if they were going to do it again.

The way Leia hugged Rey towards the end of movie could fit the theory that it's Han and Leia's daughter. When I was watching that scene I couldn't help but notice the length and passion Leia put into it.

She went from collecting scrap metal for a living to fighting in huge space battles and suddenly developing crazy powers. I'd be pretty wide eyed too.

Saw it yesterday as well and thought it was really well done. Great homage and attention to detail to the originals while also acting as a transition to whatever lies ahead in the movies to come. Not only in the plot and characters, but also in the cinematography and special effects - far less reliance on CGI and keeping it simple in most cases (vs. the clutter and drawn out battles from the prequels) being two items that stood out to me in that regard.

My only real grievance -
Spoiler!

Will be seeing it again on Sunday as well, and probably a few more times after that. Wish I could just set up direct debit to Disney for the next few weeks...

Saw it this morning and I thought it was great.

- not sure about Rey's lineage, would be strange if she was Han and Leia's daughter but their instant taking to her would suggest that she's kin at least.
- loved the half cocked, unsure commitment to the dark side from Kylo. His messy fighting and temper tantrums seemed like the way a conflicted teenage sith would act.
- the landscapes in the film were amazing. The downed Imperial star destroyer, the arctic base and lastly the island where Luke was hiding were all beautiful.
- loved seeing Luke at the end - really looking forward to Episode 8.

Let's be honest - how many of you are counting the minutes until Captain Crunch has seen the film and wandered in here? His opinion on the film means more to me than anyone else.

Captain Crunch's take will be interesting for sure.

You just know he'll love it though.

Felt the same way... Seeing "Episode VII" scroll across the scene just felt so amazing.

There was a huge round of cheering and applause when Rey said "We'll take the junk" (or something like that) and the camera panned over onto the Millennium Falcon, too.

But I think Snoke being Plagueis would be the only way these villains could ever feel like a real threat. It would make them feel more legitimate rather than the illusion they were portrayed as in this movie.
Agreed, 100%..I really do hope Snoke is Plagueis.

1) It would fit and could be explained without much difficulty (went into hiding/was pulling strings behind the empire/found a way to be resurrected) and would be believable.
2) It would make him rival Palpatine for the "big bad", as even Sidious was afraid of the magnitude of his powers, and took it upon himself to try and eliminate him (which he "supposedly" did).
3) It would tie all three trilogies together. It would give the Sith an arc that spans all 9 movies, rather than just inventing new ones for the sake of it without explaining how a being of Snoke's power suddenly came to be. And who doesn't like that kind of continuity?
4) Adds to the lore and history of the SW universe.

Regarding Han Solo death, it was well done and showed Kylo Ren's development. He's worse than Anakin/Darth Vader, in that Vader at least turned back upon realizing it's his son. Kylo doesn't showing even more commitment to the dark side than Vader.

But the next scene bothered me. Leia meets with Rey. But not with Chewbacca? The wife doesn't turn to her husbands best friend since even before they met...it just gets left out. There should have been an emotional pull by having them meet, perhaps even Chewbacca being subservient in sorrow to Leia. Then go to the Rey scene.

I will have to watch it more closely but I kind of felt like Chewy was so distraught that he couldn't even look at Leia.

To go from that, to him immediately smiling as he takes off with Rey makes that scene a little jarring though.

Maybe I had my expectations too high, but I was left kind of wanting more.

Light saber duels were the best of the franchise. I love the brutal style and how every swing/strike is to kill. X wing/Tie fighters battles were amazing.

Dialogue was lacking... many moments throughout the movie left me saying "okay.." They tried too hard to bring the nostalgia back... it seemed that they were trying too hard not to upset the hardcore fans. I knew the second when Han Solo confronted Kylo Ren, he would be killed. I also thought the movie was rushed a bit..

I thought revealing Luke in the movie was going to be a holy **** moment... it wasn't.

Probably because you knew it would happen just from being a fan. The only way Luke's reveal would have held any surprise is if he was the bad guy somehow.

Don't agree on the dialogue, thought it was some of the best of all the Star Wars, the much improved acting quality helped with that too.

Agree on it being a little rushed though. Feel like they could have added 5-10 minutes of run time just to give things a bit more pause and let things set up a little better.

Agree on Luke as well, but think a lot of it was that they let it linger too long which ruined the effect. They should have ended it right when he turned around and had the pained look on his face, or even just end it with her seeing a cloaked figure on the mountain top.

No need for the 360 degree pan of the exchange at the end of the movie.
