They signed Darwin Barney. Really they don't/didn't have much left to do... sign 1 or maybe 2 bullpen arms.

Very interesting interview interview with former Jays GM JP Ricciardi. Discusses the challenges a GM faces for working for Rogers versus a standard MLB ownership structure.
Can't believe that during JP Ricciardi's time the Jays were not allowed to draft out of slot or be involved with the international draft all. Looks like JP wouldn't have had anything to do with that David Price contract either.

Interesting speculation by Kevin Papetti about a possible Revere for Storen trade. Washington is overloaded on RP and Revere has value for a team looking for a strong defensive outfielder.
Storen would go a long way to solidifying the bullpen.
If Sanchez moves into a starting position.
Storen - Osuna - Cecil - Loup with Chavez (Hutchinson?) as middle relief, is miles ahead of last year.

That is an interesting deal. I am in the minority and liked Revere, but if he alone - not sure that's possible - can get you Storen, and if Saunders is healthy, then....

The Toronto Blue Jays inquired about free agent left-hander Cory Luebke, as FOX Sports reported Wednesday. However, an industry source told Sportsnet that substantive discussions have not taken place and that the inquiry was primarily health-based.
Luebke showed promise with the San Diego Padres from 2010-12, posting a 3.25 ERA with 195 strikeouts in 188.1 innings. But the 30-year-old has undergone two Tommy John surgeries in the last four years and hasn’t appeared at the MLB level since April of 2012.

The price of acquiring Kenta Maeda has apparently come down, with SF and Boston out of the running the only serious bidders may be the Dodgers. I have a feeling that if someone signs Maeda for less than 20M a year, I'm going to dislike Smoak all season long, for something out of his control.

Jerry Crasnick ✔ @jcrasnick Lefty Wade LeBlanc, who pitched last year in Japan, has agreed to minor-league deal with #BlueJays with a big-league invite.
8:17 AM - 17 Dec 2015
Wade LeBlanc was sent to the Japanese Minor League after not performing in the Japanese League. I didn't even know that they had a proper minor league. It's hard to believe that there is no one better available to start for the Bisons.
Weak signings all through the system.

Chris Johnson has been designated by the Indians. He has 8M left for the upcoming season on his contract. If Cleveland believes he has negative value, Would they take assets in Revere/Smoak/Chavez in order to bring down the price of Salazar, Johnson attached? Under those circumstances, would Sanchez be enough?
Johnson could be a bench bat/platoon with Cola.
See, my dislike of all of the off season moves so far is already starting to show.
Still like Happ at the bottom of the rotation, but he's on thin ice if Atkins signs another Tweener.

The fact that it's December 17th and we are still sitting here talking about dumpster diving and the Jays looking at reclamation projects has me thoroughly disgusted.

This is something every team does. Every team. They would be foolish to not try to strike gold on a low-risk high-reward signing. Look at Estrada and Colabello last year.

Jays have signed Brad Penny to a minor league deal

"The Blue Jays need rotation depth at triple-A Buffalo after trading lots of upper-level pitching last summer. The move was the team’s second of the day as they added left-hander Wade LeBlanc earlier Thursday."

Jays also claimed OF Junior Lake from the Orioles. He was pretty decent with the Cubs in his rookie year but played most of last year in the AAA.

It is good to see the Jays fill out the minor league depth, so when injuries happen, they aren't throwing garbage out there.
Unfortunately, they still need some additional major league depth at several positions that may go unfilled.

The two minor league pitchers they added will never see the majors. I thought Penny retired after his injury. Junior Lake is the first signing that I have liked. He can sub in as a fourth outfielder without being a detriment. It gives me the tiniest bit of hope that there is a move to be made concerning an outfielder for a pitcher at the major league level. There are now 5 MLB OF on the 23 man roster, and Lake on the 40. (If Saunders recovers. The way that Seattle fans loved the guy, I'd really like to see him play.)

The Blue Jays have signed pitchers Roberto Hernandez, Scott Copeland, Pat McCoy, and Bobby Doran to minor league deals. This quartet of pitchers will join Brad Penny and Wade Leblanc as Toronto's recent minor league signings. -Kevin Papetti
Hernandez used to be Fausto Carmona, and could easily spot start, Copeland and McCoy are decent depth pieces, and Doran is a potential lefty specialist.
I'm starting to think that Atkins is now making the decisions, and is responsible for Junior Lake onward. It's like he took a look at all of the signings since AA left, and yanked the reins away from the 'interim' team.

Yeah, he's the one guy I could see making the MLB team. Stick him in the pen as longman/spot-starter type deal.
