Default Most OT points - single season record? (Does Gaudreau already have it?)

Just wondering if Gaudreau has already set the record for most overtime points in a single season.

I took a look at the most obvious candidates:

Stamkos set the record for most overtime goals in a season during the 2011-2012 with 5 goals. His OT stat line, as far as I saw, was 5-1-6.

The Canucks won 12 games in OT in the 2006-2007 season, but neither the Sedins beat Gaudreau. Actually, surprisingly, it looks like Salo's 6 OT points lead the team.

Considering last year the Flames lead the league with 9 OT wins, and there's been years with teams leading with fewer wins, I wouldn't be surprised to find out Gaudreau's 7 OT points already set a record.

Fedorov holds the all time record with 27 OT points. In 96-97 he recorded points in 6 games in which the Wings one in OT, though I couldn't see the goal by goal summary so there is no guarantee he had OT points in each of those games (although in one game he scored all 5 Red Wings goals including the OT winner). There is one playoff game where he may have had an OT point that year too. This might be the record for when it was 5 on 5 overtime...

Same deal for him again in 2000-01 and 01-02 (as many as 6 points).

In 2002-2003 he may have had as many as 10 OT points. It would be worthwhile to check some other Red Wings in those seasons as there were some OT wins where Fedorov had no points.

I'll dig in deeper and see if I can find good game sheets.

Don't think it really matters that much with the change to 3 on 3 though. Anything that was in OT is now totally different. Perhaps Johnny will make and keep records going forward, but I don't think it's fair to compare OT's now with previous years because of the change.

Fedorov got those points over 18 or 19 years, would be surprising if he ever got more than 5 or 6 in one year.

More OT than ever before and a setup that makes scoring much easier

You should change the title to

"Gaudreau ties the record for most overtime points in a single season"

http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/12/16...vertime-record

What an unbelievable accomplishment for a 22 year old, 30 games into a 82 season. 3 on 3 be damned.

Johnny shreds this league when guys give him half a foot of room 5v5. Take four players off the ice, with our defensemen and the results are predictable.

Johnny Hockey can't be stopped.

What's the record for points in an all star game? I expect Johnny is going to quadruple it this year.

Lemieux had 6 pts one game so that would be a impressive feat.

This kid is unreal. Especially in OT. Feels like every OT follows a similar script... Monahan, gio, and Brodie do a great job defensively against the top three from the other team for the opening shift of OT... Gaudreau comes out for Monahan... Flames win.

He even got a point in the game against the Rangers while sitting on the bench! Maybe it's the Star Wars build up that has me saying this... but I picture Johnny sitting on the bench on that play... Stretching out his hand while closing his eyes like yoda... And then using his "Gaudreau Force" to guide the puck from Russell to Brodie and into the net. (Jedi music playing ominously the whole time)

Then after the team celebrates the win... Rick Nash comes up to Johnny and says "I don't... I don't believe it!"

Johnny: "That... Is why you fail."

I think GWG should be replaced the GGWG (Gaudreau Game Winning Goal)

It's expected gaudreau will be at the all star game. But hands down pacific division has to be favorite for the million dollar prize with Johnny on the team.

For as bad as it's been the Pacific division has 4 of the current top 10 point getters in the league. Hall, the Sedins, and Gaudreau.

Throw in some great two-way Dman like Doughty and Gio, with the goaltending of Quick and I wouldn't bet against them.

Gaudreau with 7 OT points. No other team has more than 6 OT goals this season.

Not taking away anything from Johnny this year as he as been absolute dynamite, but comparing 3 on 3 OT to past eras isn't fair.

Comparing Johnny to his contemporaries is fair game though, and he is wiping the floor with them.

Ya the top end skill in the division isn't lacking, its 6/3/2 breakdown so easily something like

Gaudreau
Sedin
Sedin
Hall
Pavelski
Domi

Burns
Doughty
Vatanen

Quick
Jones

the Ducks really having no one deserving throws a wrench in it, because Brodie or OEL should definitely be there over Vatanen but you need someone from each team and no forward is close to deserving it
