Bernier and Hiller are both terrible.

Torts benched Ryan Johansen in the 3rd period tonight - Something's gotta give in Columbus.

Just what do you think we'd have to give up for him? There's a fair amount of quantity I would put on the table for a guy of his calibre especially if we can get him and Monahan on the same line...
Calgary 1st 2016/Calgary 1st 2017
Klimchuk/Poirier/Ferland
Hudler/Wideman/Russell
Jones/Colborne/Stajan
Even losing all those guys could still potentially leave us with something solid like:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Johansen
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
Bouma-Jankowski-Granlund
Agostino-Grant-Jooris

It's a tough one because I think any package would likely have to include one of Monahan or Bennett and I don't want to part with either of those guys. I know you have to give up quality to get quality, but the Flames likely don't have the pieces to interest the Jackets (in my opinion, Columbus is in win-now mode).

I dunno... this is the same organization that traded Jeff Carter for:
Jack Johnson
2012 1st
and traded Rick Nash for :
Dubinsky
Anisimov
Erixon
2013 1st
Those are quantity for quality trades. Maybe they've wisened up a bit, but if we can do anything even remotely close to that, we need to do it. Ryan Johansen is the right-handed shot big franchise forward we desperately need in our top 6 with a sick one-timer and crazy puck skills and vision. We would be talking Cup every year.

Unless he can also play net, I don't think so.

Hey, maybe BT can invoke some more wizardry and somehow get Johansen into Flames silks without sending either Monahan, Bennett, or Brodie to Columbus. I also think the Canucks would be very interested in trying to acquire RyJo.

Those were Scott Howson trades. Like the team that employed Howson before and after his time in Columbus, Howson is no good.

@Steve_Dangle
Brian Burke, Brad Treliving, and Todd Woodcraft on the Flames were at the TBL-TOR game.

Bishop?
Edit: Probably not, he has a no movement clause.

Is that Jay Feaster in the deck above?! Bahaha. The real master mind, behind the scenes, puppet master.

Could be. He does work for the Lightning.
Although, I believe he's in more of a community-relations type role now, so he probably doesn't travel with the team.

Could it be that they feel the scouting department has done enough that it's time for the top guys to have a look before any real decision is made? I'm pretty sure that's how it works, you would think it would be a big decision to bring them out for a live look. JMO
