Flames have speed and agility and some great puck movers. For some reason, Gelinas is not utilizing these on the PP

The poor special teams are just an extension of poor 5 v 5 play. Corsi would show you the trends.

Nah, management is going to ride out this coaching staff for the season. They recognize we're not contenders, but also realize that, because of how crappy our division is, we've got a shot at the playoffs.

So I imagine the thought-process right now is "do nothing for the short-term." Only moves which look 2-3 years down the road will be considered. I bet we sell UFA's at the deadline, even if we're in the playoffs.

See how the season shakes out, then, depending on if we make it or not (likely not), the coaching staff gets cleaned out in the offseason and Treleving brings in his first coaching hire.

During our 5-game winning streak, our 5v5 Corsi was actually almost good (49.6%), and our ability to generate scoring and high-danger scoring chances was excellent, well over 50%. We also shot the lights out, about 13% on-ice-shooting. (These numbers are 5v5, Score-Adjusted).

However, our PP shooting percentage was 4%. FOUR percent. That's just... just freaking terribly, terribly bad.

Our 5v5 play has been improving consistently and, over the last few games has been quite good. Our PP on the other hand has been bad at a level that is actually shocking. A level that should be vastly more impossible to maintain than all the 'unsustainability' of last year.

But what I don't understand is that if you have the world's worst PP, why oh why do you keep Wideman on it with Gio? Why not just keep the regular pairings and play them on the PP? Could it be worse than the current state of the woeful PP?
