Just came to post the same Chinese trailer, looks amazing. Even though I said I wasn't going to watch anymore footage, I just can't stop.

I think I will be bowing out of all media between Dec 17th and 19th. I am hoping nothing obviously spoilerish pops up before then, but will definitely be ignoring any texts or emails from friends going on opening night.

For the record, people were saying stuff like this when TPM came out.

Face palm worthy stuff 16 years later. Lol guy at the end basically summarizes everyone in the future.

I think it has the ingredients to be surely be at the least better than the prequels, but I hope the hype doesn't blind people from seeing the movie for what it is, either, like above. But that initial review sounds promising. At least we have examples of good and not so good SW to help make a comparison this time.

Did we really dress like that in 1999? Ugh.

I remember walking out of the theater after Episode one, feeling like I've been dumped, gut punched and kicked in the nuts all at the same time.

Much disappointment, there was.

This is totally irrevelent to the thread; I can't tell if your tagline is like that on purpose or not. It drives my crazy everytime I see it.

I was 9 or 10. I remember liking the lightsaber fight and seeing Anakin's roots. The kids in the interviews also seemed to like the Anakin stuff so I could relate.

But I was also a very seasoned fan of the SW universe for that age. I remember thinking the midichlorian stuff was hogwash and all the political stuff was some eye rolling stuff that didn't belong. I also remember thinking "for the love of god, please get this long-eared duck frog thing off the screen". And that droids made stormtroopers look like an elite breed of super soldiers.

I'm with you. The original trilogy was so weighty, the way the blue and red lightsabers looked in the smoke on the deathstar, now that was cool. The energy of the swords was nearly palpable. It was like you could sense the static electricity in the air just watching it, the swords being a representation of the potential for a source of such immense power to be used for good or evil.

Each swing of the sword was heavy with tension, was Luke going to strike? was Vader just toying with him? Would Vader kill Luke given the chance? Luke's cornered really, what's he going to do? Each clash of the lightsabers pushing back and forth between Luke's survival and Sidious' victory. Add on to the fact that Sidious was right there you could sense that Luke's days were numbered. It was like that for all the lightsaber fights in the originals. They were always out for a specific storytelling plot device, as if you could have removed the lightsabers entirely and the tension would still be there and there would still be a conflict. Vader could have force choked Obi-Won into an ectoplasm, the lightsabers were only an accessory to the central themes occurring.

In the prequels there was none of that. The lightsabers looked like cgi kids toys being swung around by Chinese choreographers that just came from shooting a Jet Li movie, shwoo shwoo, we need a million more on screen.... boring.

I just hope that JJ Abrams has a better feel for what makes Star Wars great than he did for Star Trek

You can't post a video about Star Wars fans and not include the staple that holds it all together:
