I've now played both NHL 07(which I bought) and NHL 2k7(which I rented) and have come to a conclusion..NHL 2k7 is a MUCH better game especially online..the new cinamotion camera view is AWESOME on a HDTV..NHL 07 is just too barebones to be worth buying..and I dont see THAT much difference in the graphics..NHL 2k7 wins hands down.

I don't know if its just me but I can't win a face off to save my life in 07. I looked in the book and it doesn't say what button you press for face offs but it has always been the pass button. The thing is that it doesn't seem to do anything so I have been mashed and such with no luck.

You use the shoot analog stick to win faceoffs.. I still can't do it though, I win like 3 per game.

I figured it had to be something to d with the stick as its the only thing that really seems to do anything. Bottom line is that I royally suck at faceoffs.

Ahh, thanks guys. All this time I've been hitting the button above the left trigger, it actually kicked the puck back.

i find that pressing the right analog up (no matter which direction your player is facing) gives me the best results. also rolling from left or right towards the top seems to work pretty well also

I just scored a really lucky but nice goal by Godard. I deke left and right and he powered through two Wild D-men due to his size collected the puck that got loose during the deke and I put it under Fernandez's glove. Easily the greatest most organic goal i've scored in a hockey video game ever.

i noticed that the only Flames not on the roster are Godard and Ference. did you just sign him from free agency?

I move him prior to starting my Dynasty. B. Ference is nowhere to be found though...

I'm loving the game but man it's tough even after like 30 games. I've found the Action Cam with Zoom turned off to be the best.

2k7 ships to me tommorow, can't wait to play that too.

From gamespot FOR THE 360 VERSION:

NHL 07:

gamespot 8.2/10
IGN 8.7/10
Gamepro 4.5/5
Games Radar 8/10
gamezone 9/10
1Up 8/10
EGM 7.83/10

We say: 8.2/10
You say: 8.8/10
They say average: 8.4/10

NHL 2k7:

gamespot 8.3/10
IGN 8.9/10
Games Radar 7/10
1Up 6.5/10
EGM 6.33/10

We say: 8.3
You say: 7.7
They say average: 7.4

As far as I can tell the consensus on the review sites has been this: NHL 07 is the better playing and better looking game but is getting hurt on some reviews because it lacks the minigames and some modes that 2k7 has. It's the value scores that have brought it down more than anything. Though on average the EA game seems the clear winner at this time.

Seeing as I had the 2k series for years and played the minigames preceisely once each, that part of the game holds no value to me. I'm happy with Dynasty mode and I love the new control system which I find very intuitive but challenging. So I've gone with NHL 07 because I haven't played a 2k game or EA NHL game the past 3/4 years that has presented any sort of challenge. 2k won't present a challenge this time around while the EA game will.

Anyone try 2k7 for the PS2 yet? How is it compared to 2k6? I don't care how it compares to 07. I'll probably get it anyways seeing how it's only $20 at Future Shop.

Just played my first two dynasty games...lost both to the Flames.

Anyways, I lost both games in regulation, but was given an OTL point for one of them. Is this some sort of glitch that other people have had happen? I lost 2-1, but that still shouldn't matter. Anyone know?

Haven't run into that.

But I did notice that the game stats sometimes don't agree with the player stats. For example I won the game 4-2. The opposition had 25 shots on net yet in my goaltender stats it said he stopped 21 shots with a SV% of 0.913 (i.e. 21 for 23). But SV% and GAA has been a bug in numerous hockey games (EA and 2k) for years...so I just overlook it now.

I have the PC version and in the season opener in Dynasty mode Dion scored the OT winner. Also in the 2nd period he hit Ryan Smyth sending him to the locker room, Smyth is now out with a 2 month injury. Flames won 2-1 shots were 26-23 EDM. Flames won the 2nd game VS the Oil 4-2.

I hope my game can predict the future.

Yes the game is pretty much 06 with a few updates, but I like it so far.

F'ing Microsoft....

Played Elder Scrolls for almost 200 hours when that saved game wouldn't load anymore. Researched it to no avail (yes, cleared cache, etc....)

Now I pop in NHL 07 and with 12 gig of free space it is saying there is not enough free space to save a game? WTF??

Piece of shinguard so far....

Do you have the games installed on a drive other than windows? If you install it on say D:, with windows on C:, and the C: drive has no space left you'll get that message. Saved games are saved on the C: drive under My Documents. Check the space left on C:. If that ain't it, then I have no clue and concur with your F'ing Microsoft comment.
