It just happened now again, the database server gets really busy doing *something* and ignores the web server for a short bit, then comes back again and the flood of queued up requests goes through and slows down the web server for a bit, then it all stabilizes.
There was a search right around the time as well as a query that I think tries to sort the posts by date, so maybe I will try turning off search for a few days to see if it makes any difference.

I turned search back on, I think I know what the root cause is, and the remedy is to simply move to the new servers I've been preparing so I'm just going to have to make some time to do that.

It'd be interesting to see if we're able to have an open discussion about this. If we're going to have paid forums cluttering up the community it'd be nice to not have continuous server problems and a forum that looks 10+ years old with a logo from a contest.
Glad I'm not the only one with concerns/questions.

I haven't seen any hanging since turning off thanks and the display of users after the Rangers game, does it seem better?
