This is why you do not want a running track in your stadium. The Zagreb stadium looks deserted.

I've been to that stadium a few times for matches. One of them was vs England and it was a packed house.
But yes, that track is horrible. Even the packed house felt weird because of the bad design.
Communism crippled Croatia in many ways, and these block style stadiums with running tracks are one of the stubborn remnants that won't go away.
It sucks because Zagreb is such an awesome city architecture-wise. It definitely doesn't have the feel of a Soviet era communist city like many other European centers do.
Anyhow, 0-0 against Bayern already in the 13th minute can be considered a win itself.

Arsenal on their way through, so are Chelsea. Hernandez scores again for Leverkusen. The heat on Van Gaal goes up without United even playing.

A 16 year old is complaining that he's not playing for Real Madrids first team. You really can't make this stuff up ...
Quote:
Real Madrid kid Martin Odegaard grows increasingly frustrated after being left out of Champions League dead rubber vs Malmo
Sources close to the Norwegian international who turns 17 in nine days are understood to have become increasingly frustrated by his apparent lack of progress.
The former Stromsgodset attacking midfielder, who picked Real Madrid over a host of interested Premier League clubs last January, has been left out of the squad. Odegaard was also completely overlooked by coach Rafa Benitez last week when the team played their first Copa del Rey game of the season.
Champions League dead rubbers and first-round proper cup games are the sort of matches Odegaard believed he would be involved in if he moved to Real Madrid.

James Rodriguez doesn't even start all the time, neither does Tony Kroos. It's Real Madrid, he better get used to it.

I decided to troll my Manc friend this afternoon. He's thoroughly deserving of it as:
a) He's a Manc...
b) Watched Seahawks/Vikings with him on Sunday and he's a Seahawks fan...
c) Why the hell not!!

Yeah, he should have known that when he went there. Real is not a developmental team.
It reminds me a little bit of Fabregas when he went back to Barca and found himself getting splinters in his ass from riding the bench so often.
Well yeah...if you're not better than the guys ahead of you then you're not going to be selected.

If he was smart, he would have gone out on loan somewhere.
Signing for Real Madrid at 15 is a no win situation.

Yeah hard to say here.
I am guessing that Madrid promised him some playing time in matches like the dead rubber match and irrelevant first round cup ties.
Although from the team's perspective it is probably hard to debut at 16 year old when you are playing poorly and need to turn around the ship.
But considering Madrid were booted from the Copa Del Ray for fielding an ineligible lineup maybe they should have had this kid in the lineup instead.

he should have gone to Ajax, they are one of the best when it comes to developing young players. But hey, Reals offer was ridiculous. Horrible choice for his development, but it's difficult to turn that offer down. He's basically set for life at 16. Just think it's crazy that he's complaining now, he must have known that first team chances at Real are few and far between.

IIRC, Real gave him a salary much higher then any other club was offering. Something like 30,000 pounds per week. Crazy money for a kid that age. Its hard to blame him for taking the money, but its annoying to hear complaints about playing time now. The way this is playing out was obvious to everyone (expect for him, apparently).

He was also playing for Real Madrid Castilla and being coached by Zizou ... so no one can really pretend he's being beaten with a hose after practice each day. There are worse scenarios. I dunno, I get wanting to play, but it's not like this is a surprise switch in philosophy by RM.
