Reinhart is in the minors, and when Nurse was called up, it wasn't him who was sent down again, it was Reinhart. Now, Fayne is on his way down, outplayed by Davidson.

They're also borderline broke and that contract is atrocious.

The fact that he can look over and even see MacTavish says a lot about the oilers and how they're run. The guy was probably one of the worst GM's ever and he's still a part of the team lol.

Fayne is actually pretty good.
He's a solid 2nd pairing shut down guy.
I'd take him over Engelland, both as a player and contract.
If we didn't already have Engelland and Smid on the books, I'd gladly see the Flames claim him.
Gods an the Oilers are incompetent.

Not to mention a professional franchise thinking it's a good idea to trade considerable assets for a guy who is close to being a bust but, having played for the Oil Kings in his junior years, is actually a sound investment. In fact, most of the Oilers management seems to anchor themselves on the nostalgia factor. This is why MacTavish and Lowe are still around. I don't know why Nicholson and Chiarelli think this is a good idea.

Disagree. The Fayne / Greene pairing is a very solid 2nd pairing on a good team, and at times were in sneaky first pairing quality territory - no one of course noticed, because they played for the Devils and weren't big point producers. But that was absolutely a good unit and if you can get a guy who acts as a solid 2nd pairing guy for $3.5 per, you do it.
Of course, this is purely from a hockey management perspective, not taking into account the financial situation in NJD.

He's not even close to a second pairing shut down guy, complete tire fire this season. He has been outplayed by every other defenseman on the oilers blue line, which is extremely disturbing.
