Like this quite a bit!

That said, still puzzling to see the Backlund-Frolik combo get less ice than the Stajan-Colborne combo. One of those duos is a definitive play-driver even in tough match ups and has 25 points between them...the other has 13 points and spends quite a bit more time in their own zone. Not to nitpick after an exciting win, but what gives?

Quietly effective game by everyone. Nothing glamorous - just good hard work. Nice to see that from all the lines. Ramo was solid - some good saves and clear attention to detail. Great to see them hold the lead and give up nothing.

Up next Buffalo. I hope we can beat Buffalo, as our schedule gets much tougher after.

Good game by the Flames. Very entertaining too. Loved Granlund's game and hope he can continue to progress. 1 or 2 new young impact players a year is the key to success.

Start playing like this on the road and I will dare to dream of playoffs. Until then I will just enjoy each game as it comes.

the work ethic has been significantly better over the last two games, and to me that's been the difference.

All those penalties drawn? Effort. I'm not sure what changed, but whatever happened, it's obvious something / someone lit a fire under their collective asses which is nice.

Stupid Sportsnet "live" stream. I got a notification of the final score just aft after Hamilton took the penalty with 4:59 left in regulation.

Flames now 5-0-0 in bounceback games against opponents where there was a 3+ goal loss (well, or a loss period as those are the only bounceback games we've played):

VAN 5-1 L
EDM 5-2 L
WSH 6-2 L
CHI 4-1 L
SJS 5-2 L

Van 2-3 W
EDM 5-4 W
WSH 3-2 W
CHI 2-1 W
SJS 4-2 W

I think that speaks to Bob Hartley's coaching style. Throw young team against good team unprepared and to the dogs. Get down three goals. Try to comeback. If comeback successful, LOL. If comeback unsuccessful, win next time.

This was a moderate trend last year too BTW. Look at how the Flames trended generally upwards against divisional opponents and it wasn't just a case of owning everybody from day 1. Vancouver is the best example as we started the season 0-1-1 against them yet ended up winning the season series 2-1-1 and by playoff time they were our *****.

Screw anyone who says different but hes been good lately. Good enough anyways. Not a top 15 starter but good enough.
