Always liked Cammy. I understood the reasoning behind him moving on, but I wish he stayed. I wish Brian was able to find a way.
He wasn't going to be a core peice, but boy oh boy would he be a fantastic complimentary player and mentor for the likes of Johnny, Mony and Bennett.
Glad to see Iggy putting up points but looks like he slowed down the last week or two.

When I saw the thread title I decided to check how many former Flames players/prospects/AHLers are playing in the Austrian league this year, since there have always been a lot of those. And sure enough, in 2015-16 there's quite a few again. You might recognize a few of those names, especially if you followed the Abbotsford Heat
Jamie Lundmark
11-14-25 in 28 games this season. Fourth season in Austria already (160 points in 170 games)
Kyle Greentree
10-12-22 in 28 games this season. Fourth season in Europe, also played in Switzerland and Germany
Dustin Sylvester
7-8-15 in 26 games this season. Third season in Austria already.
Brian Connelly
0-12-12 in 25 games this season. First year in Austria, played in Sweden last season.
Ben Walter
3-7-10 in 20 games this season. Second season in Austria, also played in Sweden and Finland before that.
Brett Palin
1-4-5 in 28 games this season. Fifth season in Europe, also played in Germany, Czech Republic and Sweden.
Also Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, John Lammers, Olivier Latendresse and Tyler Spurgeon.
Tons of other Ex-Flames in other European countries too:
Ben Hanowski, David Wolf, Jason Jaffray, Brady Lamb, Richie Regehr, David van der Gulik, Matt Pelech, Jon Rheault are playing in Germany.
Matthew Lombardi, David Moss, Chuck Kobasew, Devin Setoguchi and Tim Ramholt are playing in Switzerland.
Roman Cervenka leads the Czech league in scoring.
Mitch Wahl and Henrik Björklund are playing in the 2nd Swedish division.

That's on Cammy. The guy decided to finally start playing immediately after the deadline.
Nice to see him and Stempniak doing well though.

He did just return from a concussion before the deadline, so that probably had something to do with it.

I don't think anyone could have predicted the season Cammy is having. Good for him but I don't see it as much of a loss. I think were gonna need to put that 5 million into better areas.

How 'bout Stempniak. Good for both those guys. Could probably use Stempniak on the right side about now.

Those two are a team right now. They have found great chemistry and are NJ's first liners. You'd need both.

Baertschi is such a stud. He's going to be the most legendary 18 goal scorer of all time.

I'm thinking he'd do alright with Gaudreau too.

I was surprised he didn't score two goals last night. Last season, he had 14 total points and 5 were against the Flames.

Sven's actually played really well since he was sat in a game in december, the wakeup call has seemed to work and its up to him to keep the consistency up
he's always been a good passer but he's going to the dirty areas now and straight for the net a lot which is where his chances are coming, developed really good chemistry with Horvat too. Ice time is up from around 10-11 minutes a game from early in the season to 15-16 now
7 of those goals are in his last 13 games

Stempniak is another example of why Ricardow is a stark raving lunatic. According to him, Stempniak had an imaginary rating that stats he's not even good enough to play in Europe, never mind the NHL

Exactly what I was worried about. However after all is said and done he takes Torts out breaking two ribs.

Stempniak is a guy I wouldn't have minded if we had retained or signed later. Good for him, he's a solid player. Definitely underrated by a few fans in his time here.

So he's on a hot streak? Yeah, he did that a couple times here as well. Pretty much every player gets hot from time to time. Call me out when he scores 20+ goals and 50+ points. Even then, he's so soft that I would rather have a 40 point guy who is more well-rounded.
