Since there are multiple threads on terrorist acts that get used (almost daily) I figured until we find a way to defeat these nutbars we should discuss in one thread.
I'll start with this:
Reading an old article on Iran where they shut down the country's internet for a few days made me wonder why in hell we don't shut down the internet, cell service and even land-line phone service to ISIS controlled territory's?

Because it wouldn't make a difference, a lot of their sympathizers that do recruiting etc are not in that territory, they're in England or Europe or America.
The best way to beat ISIS is to have have superior information and intelligence on them and their activities.
Deal with radicalization issues here, and basically find a way to make their existence miserable.

I disagree, Giving them tools like Twitter,Facebook and YouTube is stupid on an epic level, making them go completely dark will slow down the radicalization issues everywhere.
Let them try to radicalize people using carrier pigeons or a message in a bottle but don't give them modern communication tools.

But isn't this just one example of what seems to be the bigger issue in that they(that takes some defining who they is) don't really want to defeat ISIS. The whole approach seems very scattered. Certainly not a WAR where you would take step after step including cutting their communication etc.
I don't see it happening because there seems to be no plan to take on ISIS and no desire to do so in any real meaningful way.
More like just a game using people as the toys and the various groups trying to win little battles while never trying to actually win the war.
We don't need to find them, we need them to die off.
Now you ruined it for me. can't stand Hillary.
They do have a tendency to die off once we find them though, let's face it 'don't text and drive, it's dangerous' takes on a whole new meaning in Syria.

We won't get rid of Wahhabism until we go after Saudi Arabia and its lovely neighbours. This probably won't happen, which makes us the biggest fools in the entire conflict.
Until then, we can keep bombing ISIS and probably eventually force them to recede. Might take a few more wars in a few more countries to get to this point now that ISIS has allies in so many countries and has so many places to go. Libya is apparently their next hot spot.
Maybe we'll destroy ISIS and see a reduction in terror attacks. Eventually, a new group will rise up - probably a large part identical to ISIS, and we'll start seeing major attacks again. Of course then western governments will again try to reduce our right to privacy and rule of law and a bunch will succeed.
Just like the mass shootings in the US, the problem isn't going to go away until we do what has been obvious for so long.

Basically...ISIS is Al-Queda 5.0...it can't be bombed into surrender...the ONLY thing that will defeat ISIS (and Al-queda 6.0 etc) is for the Islamic world to view their effort as anti-Muslim thereby removing their legitimacy. Everything else is just damage control...

I thought Obama's terrorism speech was the best he's done on the subject yet, he's actually using relatively pointed language, in comparison to previous obscurantism and nonsense.

Two of the hot topics in off-topic forum show the same conclusion - relying on a document written ages ago to live your life/run your country or group of people - probably isn't the best move.
In the days ahead, the Saudi justice system — a term to be used advisedly — is scheduled to execute a married Sri Lankan housemaid, a migrant worker.
She was convicted of adultery, and her supposed lover, also Sri Lankan, was given 100 lashes.
She, being a woman, and therefore in the Saudi system even more guilty, will be buried up to her breasts, and then a crowd of Saudi men will enthusiastically throw rocks at her head until she perishes from massive brain injury or a heart attack, whichever occurs first.
