Default I'm calling it now, The Flames will be dancing this spring

They might not deserve it but they'll make the playoffs this year.

1) San Jose will crumble like creampuffs in the second half
2) Arizona is not a good team and should end up near the bottom
3) Vancouver is not better than us and by game 50 it will be proven
4) Edmonton are just "no good"

That leaves the 3 teams that most thought at seasons start in the playoffs.

Day drinking? It's possible, but that's a pretty big hill to climb.

Right now it seems pretty evident that Ducks, Sharks and Flames are fighting for the two pacific spots come 2016. Luckily we have not been the only ones facing some difficulties and the division itself is a weak one. LAK takes the division and the wild card spots belong to the central division. But in order to get in, the Flames have to get going in away games too. And breaking the friggin' curse at Honda Center must be included in the battle.

We really need to work on getting the goal differential back on track

That's not how you do it.

You gotta make a pubes eating bet for it to work.

Baby steps.

-We can't string together more than 2 wins in a row
-We can't win in regulation
-We can't hold a lead
-We can't keep the goals against under 3
-Our goalies can't even keep their save percentage above .900
-We can't PK, PP or win faceoffs worth a damn
-Our possession numbers are still ugly

Our goaltending will have to substantially improve, but it is possible. The Pacific is terrible.

Agreed, one should not be able to make such a thread (which can easily be posted in numerous other already created threads) unless they have put something drastic on the line.

CP should have a last game of the regular season party at some pub where T@T drinks for free all night long. If they have not made the playoffs....out comes the ziplock bag of pubes.

Even after winning the last two games, the Flames find themselves tied for dead last.
If not for the late game heroics, they would be 4 back of any of the other teams and 9 out of a playoff spot.

They have a long way to go. The only way they will have a legitimate shot is if they collect 18-20 points this month. 9 or 10 wins out of the 13 games. Sounds like a lot, but you have to figure the other teams will finish 1-2 games above .500. To beat that, you have to be significantly better.

SJ - 18th
BUF - 23rd
NYR - 4th
@ NSH - 11th
@ DAL - 1st
@ STL - 6th
@ DET - 6th
WIN - 18th
EDM - 28th (tied with CGY for last with Carolina)
ANA - 23rd
LA - 8th

They have to win 7 or 8 of those games. They have a long way to go.

In regards to the Coyotes, people said the same thing about the Flames last year and that never happened. They might be better than we expected this year.

I don't think playoffs are impossible this year but they're a stretch.

And 9-10 of those wins would have to come from, SJ, EDM, ANA, LA. Those last three games of the month are going to be crucial if they can go over .500.

If you guys paid attention I said they might not deserve it but 5 points is not a big hill when it's Arizona/Vancouver your chasing. The division sux, that's why they get in.

This team had a 3 game road trip in Phoenix, Anaheim and San Jose and earned 1 point and didn't look good doing it. That was telling for me. I will be pulling for them like crazy but I don't see a club that looks like a playoff team.

I wish I could share your enthusiasm. I simply don't see a team making the playoffs with this type of goaltending.

Don't care, as long as they beat the Oilers in the standings.

Your opinion doesn't qualify as [NEWS] but at this stage I do share the optimism. The last 2 wins had that feel of last season where the never say die Flames captured our excitement.

The only reason this is possible is due to the horrible division the Flames are in. I wouldn't be shocked to see a Flames-Ducks round 1 matchup

A more realistic and immediate goal for this club is to reach .500.
