I am not a huge fan of Anderson. He is big, but doesnt strike me as a goalie that would be able to shine if the team is struggling in front of him. More of a blocker than a stopper.

I wouldnt be happy if we paid a high price for a guy like him.

Blockers are better than guys who don't block at all

But seriously, that group includes Bishop, Rinne and Dubnyk and I'd snap up any of those guys.

Was thinking that a good AC video might be "Bad goals - 2015/2016". Would be about 30 min of footage already.

And that is just one game with Hiller in net.

Bernier and Andersen are right in the age grouping I hope the Flames are targeting for their next goalie. I'm fine with them taking a chance on either of those two goalies. For people who don't like "Blocking" goalies, I feel the Flames could fare much better with a guy who doesn't fly around.

Hopefully Hudler keeps putting up points and we can trade him straight up for Andersen.

Hopefully BT isn't stupid enough to make that deal.

What are you expecting in terms of "shining" when the team is struggling?

At the start of the year, when the ducks were getting shut out 3 times in 5 games or some such, Andersen was putting up stellar numbers... just kind of hard to win when your team is scoring zero goals.

Andersen is a good goalie for sure, and I do think he would be a good choice for Calgary for the next 3-4 years, but to me it comes down to cost. I expect to be able to get Bernier for very little (Hiller/Raymond for Bernier/??), while Andersen will have a higher price tag.

Almost sounds like a guy we already have that we would like to run out of town. Trading for a goalie right now would be insanity unless it is a young stud.

Fasth and Andersen are different players. Fasth was older when he went to the Oilers. Andersen is 26.

The last I checked the Flames don't have an NHL goalie under contract next year.
That's a pretty serious organizational need, I'd say. And whether or not anybody agrees what Andersen's potential is, it seems safe to say, he'd be an upgrade on Ramo and Hiller.

The crux here is whether or not Hudler could actually fetch a late first rounder at the deadline. Maybe he could, maybe he couldn't. Who knows what the market is?

But I think that's a bit optimistic given Hudler's cemented rental status (a contending team isn't going to be able to fit his rumoured $7 million AAV ask) but that's me. Hudler probably gets at least a second rounder for sure.

And I think a free agent second rounder for Andersen is a solid gambit, not an especially stupid one.

I seriously doubt Hudler alone would get Andersen though.

Yeah. Not a chance the Ducks give Andersen straight up for Hudler. Especially for competition within the division. Flames would have to throw in some extras for sure.

Yeah, you guys are so right. I mean we gave up one of Bennett, Monahan and Gaudreau for Dougie Hamilton too!

For once, let's pretend any of us have absolutely no clue what it takes to acquire player X. And then keep pretending. Because in the real world. Not one of us have a fracking clue what any GM will decide to do from one day to the next.

But if BT could swing a deal for Andersen, that would be ideal. He was amazing against the Blackhawks, and he won't cost as much to keep as a guy like Bishop.

This is a better team than it has shown - it needs a real goalie.

Hey fair enough, but much like the Bruins deal, if I was a fan of the other team, in this case the Ducks, I'd be infuriated with that return. Ducks could use a guy like Hudler, but a expiring UFA coming back and nothing else? Not likely.

Not saying impossible but I very much doubt it
