Watch Raymond next game. I guarantee he will fall with the puck in the offensive zone at least 3 times. Without being under ANY pressure.
Bollig on the 4th line causes less damage then Raymond in the top 9. Period.
Raymond playing 1st or 2nd line basically means your 1st or 2nd line will not be scoring goals. Or they will be doing it without Raymond touching the puck like what Monahan and Gaudreau have been doing with a useless Hudler on their line for a 20 game stretch.
|
I compare Raymond to the best forward on the Flames to make a point, which is that it's easy to pick out a couple bad plays, which happen to even the best players. Plays "die" on every player's stick 90% of the time.

I have the feeling he must be the guys mom, brother, or second cousin because he has been doing it since day one of Raymonds suckage with the Calgary Flames.

Speaking tired cliches, "what are you, X's mom" is another one. Maybe I am, since Raymond is from here. Or maybe I'm tired of negativity, especially when it isn't warranted, just because a player is the whipping boy. I was accused of "always" defending Stajan as well all last year and, surprise, he turned out to be pretty valuable.
I don't want Raymond on the team, he's not a good enough player. But so many posters harp on him, when he has no worse a game than most other players on the team. He did nothing wrong last game, was a plus player, and made some decent plays, but somehow he was a liability, because he got 7 seconds of OT time, or beat out Backlund or Jones for power play time. And I also prefer that people use actual facts instead of made up ones, like how Bennett got way less power play time or OT time. Didn't happen.

Raymond sucks
only thing that dude does is carry the puck in 7 feet, do a quick spin at the ringette line and then give the puck away(or goes for a drop pass that gets intercepted)
though between him and brandon bollig who's tough guy routine consists solely of facewashing little guys late after whistles, i'm not sure who i want to sit

Ya totally, I mean Gaudreau was top 10 in giveaways last year. Oh wait he was ALSO top 10 in takeaways? Does Raymond do that?
Gaudreau is definitely guilty of giveaways, but it's the other team that causes them, not himself. He doesn't fall down with the puck when under no pressure so your point is invalid.
Everyone is guilty of a couple bad plays, but Raymond is guilty of nothing BUT bad plays. He contributes nothing but puck possession and even the puck possession is useless. He doesn't do anything with the puck but skate around the net and unsuccessfully try not to fall down.
Stop using Raymond and Gaudreau in the same sentence. People will think you are drunk at 3PM.
Also you are an idiot if you criticized Stajan last year. He did his job which was to provide veteran leadership and steady play on the 3rd-4th line. Stajan was purposely overpaid and nobody expected him to earn that contract. Notice how he was NEVER healthy scratched? That's because he was doing the job Hartley wanted.

Read again - I said I defended Stajan all last year, not criticized him. Who exactly is the idiot again?
I said why I mentioned Gaudreau - for hyperbole's sake. Using an extreme example is not exactly an advanced concept in making a point.
As for takeaways, Raymond was 1 giveaway and 1 takeaway last game. He was part of the play that got the Flames going in the third. Yet people want to look at the time he "tripped over the blue line".

Sorry I just skimmed your post because of how dumb it was. I don't recall anybody criticizing Stajan last year though, so you must have been arguing with Ricardow.
Using an extreme "example" is a terrible way to convey your point actually... I had to read that part twice since I couldn't believe you wrote it.

Are you kidding? Everyone was criticizing Stajan.
I'm sorry you couldn't understand my post. I will use a simpler example next time.

Was this called for? I have been lurking around this forum for the better part of a decade and only signed up two years ago. The only reason for joining was to have the super power of the block!

Man, is it really worth arguing over bollig/Raymond. Both have basically been the 12th forwards, especially bollig.
The flames suck has a lot of different root causes. But I bet they'd have more points if the goalies, the top d men (not just brodie), and the flames top forwards played better.
Do Raymond/bollig suck... sure, but there are a lot of other shoulders that carry that blame.

So, if I say the word SHUTOUT!!!!! am I going to get blamed when Ramo gives up a bad goal? Or is the mere possibility of a SHUTOUT so remote that the laws of luck are inverted and this superstitious transgression is now, in fact, the only thing that can fix things?
SHUTOUT for the flames.

I'm eating a lot of grease so there's more long unscheduled visits to the little boys room.
Go ahead and spin the low hanging fruit.
