Ah! Not losing is so much more preferable to losing!

I still had issues with Gio.
Not that he was necessarily a liability - the bad plays he would make up for by skating back and breaking plays up - but he still wasn't moving the puck forward quickly either. Looking for the safest plays across the ice still because he doesn't have that confidence to make a crisp pass up to the forwards.
Having 14/15 Gio back would go a long ways in turning things around. He's gone from abysmal to a competent d-man but he's not in elite form yet.

It was nice to see him try to find that wrister again. He's getting closer. Confidence is going to go a longer way for Gio than most of the team with all the pressure he puts on himself from being el capitan.

What an exciting game to watch. From the second period to the third was a thing to watch. Brodie was supernatural today, sooooo damn beastly.
Damn CP,
We win a game and it's "finally the real Flames are back"
We lose a game and it's "I'm done with this team"
People need to relax and realize the Flames are a good team lacking consistency, which kind of contradicts itself. They're working on it. Regardless, I believe the Flames are a good team. They've dominated many games and many periods. On top of that, the young players of the future are improving every game. Not much to complain about in this REBUILD.

Dallas announcers "the Flames just keep coming in waves." - "Dallas turns the puck over again."

Overall team confidence would be helped a lot with a goaltender between the pipes who won't let in the first shot from a sharp angle.
I'd be on board with bringing in someone like Bernier. You never know when the change of scenery approach could work.
This team won't be able to take off for a run if the goalie sabotages their chances at a streak each time they start to gather momentum. If I were Brad I'd be working the phone.

Let's not underestimate what confidence can do for people here. Hockey teams included.

So, Brodie is the best player on this team and it's not close.

Correct! Almost 28 minutes tonight, against one of the most potent offensive teams in the league. Comes out a +1.

I still stand by Dougie + Hudler for Hamonic + Strome. Isles - take it or leave it
Dougie For Hamonic straight up - F no!
I'll take Dougie any day. In my top 4(3).

Dougie had a blast of a post game interview. Going to be a fan favorite very quickly for years to come.

I think Gio cracked some metaphorical skulls before this game. This was not the same level of play we've seen for most of the season.
That said, Dallas pretty much invites comebacks with their wide open D. Flames should have had 5 in regulation.

By my count:
Monahan has 5 OT goals (@ EDM, @ WSH, vs COL, @ SJ, @WSH) , 4 OT assists, and 6 shootout winners.

Stupid question, but how do you decide shootout winner in this scenario?
I assume just last goal, but GWG logic would give it to Gaudreau as the second scorer in a 3-1 type game.

Hmm, good question.
I counted his goals that ended the shootout. Though technically this was a 3-1 shootout. I may very well be wrong then.

Bernier pretty one in from center ice. That's worse than bad angle. Plus he's let in bad angle shots this year. Just because he's new won't make him better

In the NHL with the parity we see, the difference between good teams and bad is only consistency. The Oilers have dominated periods and games, so have the Jackets

Just finished watching the game.
Pretty great effort for the comeback. They owned the last 2 periods of play, but maybe that was the score effect (chasing).
Hopefully this starts some belief in that dressing room and they play like that from now on, minus the ugly two goals by Ramo.
