Give it to them, next thing you know it will be next Christmas and we will forget what it was like to stand in the cold searching for cabs over the holidays.

With all the parties being cancelled this year, this is the perfect year for the Taxi Companies to have it to themselves.

They won't. Uber isn't even appealing the injunction. They are out until they get the insurance situation sorted.

Yeah, didn't have any problem getting a cab at the BMO centre last weekend, as half the halls were empty.

Anyone else on the carpooling app called https://blancride.com/?
Seems like it's just me everytime I log on, whether I'm offering or looking for rides.

Things are getting serious in TO! Cab drivers going on hunger strike.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com//news...ick=sf_globefb

"But the mood outside Tuesday morning was anything but conciliatory. Protesters branded Uber an outlaw that would drive them out of business. And when asked whether their fight rose to the seriousness of other causes that had employed hunger strikes – a tactic used by Mohandas Gandhi, anti-apartheid protesters and Irish republicans – one protester took direct aim at the mayor.

“John Tory is treating us as slaves,” said cabbie Krishna Pillai, who was supporting the protest but not himself fasting. “The mayor is supporting an illegal actor in this country.”

The men vowed to remain until their message has been heeded.

“We have tried other avenues, we have protested … so what is left for us?” said hunger striker Behrouz Khamseh. “You want to kill my industry? Kill me first. Let me starve over here.”
"

Boy, these guys are really out to lunch (no pun intended).

So to protest Uber taking away fares from them, they are not going to work and losing even more fares, probably to Uber.

Makes sense to me.

I never understood hunger strikes. At all. Want to starve yourself? Have at it.

Tried to get a taxi to the game on Friday night. Was told that the wait was over an hour by multiple companies (the ones I could get through to). Was butthurt.

What's interesting is Toronto is not pursuing an injunction against uber or devoting resources to ticket them.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Round of applause for Calgary Taxis. Can't even have their sh*t together in the early evening on a Friday, let alone after midnight.

There were about a dozen taxis outside the BMO Center when I left it at 10:00 PM on Saturday, so no problem getting out of there. Saw a taxi ripping through a suburb in the deep SE like a madman around midnight as well, probably trying to drop the passenger off so he could get back to downtown quickly.

Wanted to take Uber last night. Found myself in a Cab with somebody who didn't know how to drive and couldn't take directions. Paid 50% higher then an Uber fair. Missed Uber.

Was in Palm Springs area this weekend. A notorious driver's city/cities. Pretty much used Uber exclusively. Was cheaper than a cab.

Also tough finding cabs when you are just walking around.

We took one cab from our hotel to an event one morning. Needed to be there at 8:20. Gave him the name of the location and the address. He takes us to another location about 20 minutes from the one we requested (we didn't know until we got out of the car.)

Couldn't see a cab anywhere so picked up an Uber. Told her the situation and she got us there as quick as possible.

Cannot wait for it to come back!

I actually laughed at how ridiculous that hunger strike is. Good luck with that boys.

Filed my first complaint ever about a cabbie who refused us a ride because "he wasn't going that way" on friday night. Waited 20 minutes for him to show up, then he does the roll the window down 6 inches thing and says too bad and takes off. The cab commission is supposed to respond to the complaints with in a week so I'm interested to see whether they take action or if the passengers bill of rights is just a bunch of BS. FU cabbie number 1103.

Amazing how Uber is gone for a coupe weeks and the cab service is right back to absolute ####. I cannot wait for Uber to be back.
