I am on the fence. There is quite a bit they need to get through before that scene, but then again it doesn't make much sense to have that be the opening episode next season either.

I do get a chuckle out of the other thread with the Glenn talk though. I think they will all be happy that he made it out of the dumpster alive once they see how it all goes down.

That fake death was actually incredibly effective because it causes people to think that the characters are invincible, which will make the inevitable real Glenn death all the more impactful.

People are already complaining about this "main characters are in no real danger" thing. http://www.vox.com/culture/2015/11/3...8-recap-finale

This will go double if Carl gets shot in the f***ing face before then, too. Can you imagine if an episode closed with Carl getting half his head blown off and then he LIVES? People would go nuts. "THIS SHOW WON'T KILL ANYONE OFF ANYMORE!"

Well, folks, say hi to Lucille.

EDIT: actually, come to think of it it would have made some sense to have the Carl thing be the mid-season cliffhanger, wouldn't it??

why would the tone be wrong if he doesn't swear? there's barely any cursing up to this point (probably due to the mainstream nature of the show) so to have someone show up and suddenly start dropping f***ity f*** f*** every other sentence would be supremely weird. conversely the comics had plenty of swears long before Negan appears, he just brings more of it.

Negan's defining personality trait is his sadistic swagger and bizarre code of honor. as long as those are preserved that's a fine enough translation for the TV screen. the writers are happy to drop little nods to comic readers here and there, but in the end they are catering to the much larger segment of non-reading viewers.

Don't they usually have a weaker mid-season finale setting up for the first show back? I seem to remember it being a common complaint in the other thread.

You're possibly right.

By the way, issue 83 exists in full on youtube, for a refresher:

I was reading the comics recap for the Alexandria storyline because I was trying to remember where Negan and the Saviors come into things, and it reminded me that the horde getting into Alexandria was when Carl got his face shot off, and lots of Alexandrians died in the chaos, including Rick's new girlfriend and her stupid kid.

I can't see them having Carl get his face shot off on the show. It would be a pretty complex make-up job on a main character to do for every episode. I believe that's also one reason they didn't have the Governor chop Rick's arm off.

Yeah, though they could still have him getting shot somewhere else ostensibly fatal.

I think it would be fine, his eye will be bandaged most of the time and then you can make him wear an eye patch just like the Governor. You would only need a couple scenes of make up on his face, like when Negan makes Carl show him.

Or the glasses with the one lens blacked out. Then the actor just has scars done around the area.

Do you think it will be Glenn they actually kill or one of the three that ran into the bike gang? They've mixed it up already with Herschel getting beheaded by the Governor (originally Tyrese) and Bob being taken by the cannibals (originally Dale).

I am going to have to read it again but wasn't Glenn captured and then killed in front of the gates?

If I remember correctly Glenn, Maggie, Rick, Carl, and Michonne were out scavenging when they were ambushed by Negan and some men. They picked Glenn out of the group and made an example of him and sent the others back to town and said they would see them in a day or so to collect supplies.

so there's a lot of people in the TV thread that are either hoping Negan is some kind of super Governor that injects excitement into the show, or that they start trying to wrap things up by finding a cure or just killing all the zombies.

my memory of the Negan storyline is that it was shocking and interesting at first, but then it went on so long that eventually I wanted it to just end. the introduction of the other friendly communities during that time ended up being more interesting and more important long term anyhow.

so assuming they're not trying to wrap the show up since it's still a TV juggernaut, what will non-reader reaction be to the Negan thing as it likely goes more than a full season long? I personally want to just get to the flash foward with the Whisperers, because I'm finding it to be some of the best stuff the series has ever done. but it might take till season 8 or longer for that.

I just recently read the comics (basically binge read them over the last week or so) and since the Saviors had Darryl's bike, that means they likely have his crossbow too. The very same crossbow used to shoot Abraham through the eye by chance?

Also I am really curious how they are going to off Glenn, the scene from the comics may be too graphic to do on screen and it just wouldn't be the same if we don't see him die.

So they spared Abraham from the bolt to the eye, does that mean the spare Glenn?

The way they set up the preview for next week it could be Darryl or Carol.

I don't think they spare Glen, the table is set with the 'fake death' before, he has the baby on the way so people think hes safe.. perfect set up. I think they show the initial hit then with blood spraying off of Glen on to rick and others around him as Negan beats his face into a pulp. Maybe 2-3 hits instead of the 10 or so in the comics, they definitely won't have that close up of Glens face asking Maggie for help or whatever.

When Negan came in it was exciting, and then I quickly lost interest as the comics dragged on even more. That was where I stopped reading, the one where they find the Knights or whatever. And at this point I have no ambition to read them. I might go read the last 10 comics or so once the series is done.

given how long the All Out War storyline went in the comics, I'm guessing Negan takes up the entirety of Season 7, if not even more. plus Morgan is already building his jail cell, which is something I'm excited for because it means we'll eventually get the "new" world with the Whisperers...far more engaging in my opinion than most of the Governer/Negan supervillain stuff that precedes it.

As discussed earlier in this thread, I don't believe any of the major characters' deaths on the show have been exact duplicates of their deaths in the comics (and the "big" deaths they have replicated -- like Spoiled Meat and last night's bolt through the eye -- have involved different characters than the comics).

For that reason, I'm thinking that someone other than Glenn will get the Lucille treatment. My money's on Abraham. If they want it to be as shocking as Glenn was in the comics, it will be either Carol or Daryl.

I'm thinking it'll end with Glenn, Carol and Daryl kneeling but it'll ultimately be Daryl that gets killed, mainly because it sounds like it'll be a death that people don't see coming. With Glenn it would be expected for comic readers and for tv viewers, he's almost died so many times and survived that it would be more of a "finally" reaction than a shocked reaction. I rmember reading an interview with Kirkman who said Carol would be the last person he wants to kill, but i guess that could just be misdirection also.

Also, Norman Reedus has a new show on AMC.

I hope it's Glenn who get's the Lucille treatment. Or maybe they will surprise people and actually have it the same as the comic books.
