I'm happy with Kakao.
Would not use MSN, Yahoo or Google Talk/Chat if voted in as they are terrible as well. Kakao still blows all of them away in not being terrible.

I'm totally fine with Kakao. It hasn't caused me any problems.
If we HAVE to pick another option, I'd like WhatsApp.

I assume you can use any email for Skype?
My preference would be google talk but I'd try Skype if I don't need a Hotmail account.

Whats the issue(s) with Kakao?
Other than getting my hopes up when I get a notification ding, only to see its a "why not invite your friends to kakao?", instead of a random trade proposal that I was hoping for, I don't have a problem with it That only happened once a month anyway.
I find it really easy to use. I'm open to Skype or whatever other app we use, but personally liked kakao.

I'm fine with something new, I agree that it would be nice to have something that shows when users are online, should help with trade talks and communication in general.

I cannot use Kakao so anything online and not cell service reliant is okay with me.

My issue with kakao is having no idea when people are on or off. Is there a way to tell?

No, although I prefer that. I don't want something automatically popping up that in online anytime my phone or computer is on.

Skype is the best platform imo. Maybe if you guys need it through work you can create a second skype account and run it through ebuddy or something.

I liked MSN Messenger because when I logged on as my GM account I was on there for trading and knew that if other GM's were on they were ready to trade as well.
With Kakao you have no idea if they are on or not and if they are they could be in the middle of things.
I'm fine either way but would love everyone to use the messenger that ppl will use

I don't want a ton of pop ups either, but I have no idea why there is no green dot or something to let you know that people are available. Seems like such an obvious thing to want regardless of why you have these contacts.

I'd prefer to not use an IM client that is phone based
