You did say this:

Man thinking he has ANY control over the climate is absolutely hilarious.

Which is factually incorrect. Period.

Well if John Cooks website says it then it must be true. Thanks for setting me straight.

Jupiters climate is also changing. We better give more money to Al Gore to stop that.

Those countries unlike Canada have human rights issues. They have a lively black market slave trade. So by eliminating the oil sands you are increasing human rights injustices.

Therefore David Suzuki is a lot like a slave trader himself using his logic. His arguments for a reduction of oil sands oil will factually empower human rights abusers. So it's basically the same thing right?

David Suzuki needs to realize that discourse like this does nothing productive. It in facts hurts his cause and his credibility. It radicalizes the conversation in both directions. I think go forward we need balance, and David isn't it.

Canada needs the oil sands. They need to be developed responsibly. I too don't see why we can't remove the zealots on both sides and have a dialog like grown ups.
This is what drives me the most crazy about Hollywood actors and singers targeting the "Dirty Oil" in Canada.

"Oil Sands are bad, lets buy oil from countries that cut people's heads off and don't let their women drive and have spread radicalism through the world for the last 40 years"

Yup, they put those "destroying the environment" stickers on the pumps in North Van in the style of cigarette package ads, maybe in Eastern Canada they should have pictures of women getting stoned and people being hung. Might encourage them to support a Canadian pipeline for their oil....

All they need to do is really take a quick drive from their LA mansions to the California oil fields if they want to see a disgusting environmental disaster. Or take a look at how many pipelines this administration has built, or take a look at the sloppy safety records for US off shore oil.

But they get paid and gifted and then do as they're told

Not a Suzuki defendant at all but that is an absolutely terrible piece to be presenting saying that it reflects the "type of guy he is". Dramatic and over the top.

In all fairness many of the environmentalists/actors have cursory knowledge of the subjects/causes they are passionate about. Look up Jane Fonda in Vancouver for example. Same goes for many of the people who work for environmental groups such as Sierra Club or David Suzuki Foundation. They just don't understand how the larger system works, mainly due to inexperience or not-wanting to understand.

I have a friend who works for David Suzuki Foundation and have had these conversations. They celebrate Keystone XL's failure. I counter with more oil by rail. They counter we shouldn't us any oil and should use green tech. I counter with show me a green tech that works to the scale of oil at similar cost today. I further counter that more oil will come from murderous regimes. They counter with "you will be on the wrong side of history" and I am "a climate change denier".

That is what it is in a nutshell. These folks have limited knowledge of a complex subject and are driven from an emotional place. Facts in the end are meaningless. They are doing something righteous and anyone who descents is wrong.

Incidentally it makes them controllable weapons/puppets, one that David is focusing with comments like this. Human manipulation at it's finest perpetrated by a sweet little old man who loves his trees.

These guys are intellectually dishonest about the trade offs involved in Canada's fight against climate change, and whether we'll have a discernible impact at the end of the day. David doesn't care though, he's pushing 80 and the solutions required won't be his problem.

That blog itself? No not really but that does demonstrate the type of guy he is. He is most certainly a narcissistic, self glossing jerk who truly believes he is better than others which in that encounter she talks about, proves it.

His work against salmon farming is a very bewildering one to me though. The fact he has been financed by American interests who would like to see the whole practice disappear is what matters in this case as once again, it goes to credibility. He has none.

I am/was a huge fan of The nature of things and found his work (in particular with animals), fascinating. However, ever since he left actual science in his rearview mirror and stared advocating for one thing or another at any cost, all for profit of his own, he has become a caricature.

People in this country take his word for gospel and that is a dangerous thing when what he is preaching simply isn't reality.

I love how there are people, on both sides of the argument, who are making such absurdly over the top statements about how their side is right that it makes it totally impossible to take them even close to serious.

"Climate change can't possibly be man-made because the climate changes on Jupiter"

"There is no way that the economy should be even close to as important the environment"

God you make it so easy....you just quoted ^^^^

Here is what I said in that one post

Quote:
Not saying anything like "there is no climate change/global warming"...because there is. What I still believe, along with a myriad of scientists in various disciplines, is that a warming trend on this planet is quite possibly nothing more than history repeating itself....for the umpteenth time.
So again I ask you ...where have I denied climate change?????

I specifically said as much in that very quote.

The climate has changed on this earth for literally billions of years, always has and always will.

What I have always wondered and questioned is how much of it is man made and how much of it should we shoulder economically. Period and end of story.

If you are unable to comprehend that, then so be it and you can go back to delusional corner in ficticious city and bleat to the masses all you like.

Now what has any of this to do with Suzukis claims that the oilsands are comparable to slavery in the Southern states?

Or are you just on a roll to derail whatever threads you can ?

So transparent and laughable.
