No kidding the optics would be terrible. Let's let the 24 year old go and keep the 2 mediocre vets that won't be back next year.
Bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for them.

It would be hilarious to lose Byron because we have three goalies, and then two months later lose one of the goalies because we have three goalies.

I'm baffled that 2 games changes the view on Ortio so much in managements eyes.

Because he's not the one who played terrible, nor is he the one who put Ortio on waivers.

Lets invest 3 years in Gillies and waive him. Might as well do it to Mcdonald after that too.

I forgot we have had outstanding goalkeeping from the UFA veterans that merits losing a 24yr. old prospect, good point.

I still don't see how that makes it Hartley's fault. He played Ortio and Ortio bombed.

So did Ramo, but for some reason he got to play through his struggles.

everyone bombed. No one played well so why would you expect a prospect to play that much different. Both Ramo and Hiller will be gone in the summer, the season is almost done for us so why not keep the prospect with more potential and if he's garbage you can let him go in the off season. That's just me thouogh.

This is interesting. I had no idea he was so important to the Flames.
If he is not claimed can we all go back to saying he sucks?
