Crosby is probably just having an off year.

Ovechkin had that season where he put up 65 points and everyone lost their mind over it.

I think he won three consecutive Rockets afterwards and bagged another Hart trophy.

I wouldn't worry about Crosby over 20 games. I wouldn't worry about him over a season. Get back to me when his production dips two seasons in a row.

I remind you, he was the third leading NHL scorer last season. He has also won ART ROSS and HART trophies since his last concussion.

I also think that it is ridiculous to compare Paul Kariya to Crosby, as Kariya was a very good player, but never considered the best player in the league. He was actually not even qualified after his one and only cup appearance.
Hm, I am not sure what you wholeheartedly disagree with

Basically, there are 6 potential factors I itemized

Maybe he has lost a bit of fire and confidence, maybe his coach is a knucklehead, maybe his ceiling is also lowered due to post concussion issues (plus the others)

Are you disagreeing with all 6 things I listed that post?

Sometimes when you are awesome the stars align. When they don't, then is there a single root cause? Maybe yes, maybe no

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree with your comments. It appeared to me that your "6 points" were other possible explanations.

The 6 points, outside of Post Concussion syndrome, and a "feeling of accomplishment for being the best player in the league" are up for discussion.

Those specific arguments are poor at best.

I admit as much as anyone that it is baffling why the guy who was head and shoulders above is suddenly just good. I can't dismiss any of my suggested contributors and just do not believe in an off year for no reason

So I do not get, but don't care to challenge how you wholeheartedly disagree with a bunch of suppositions

per Matthew Barnaby, Lemieux and Crosby have had a big falling out

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...183246001.html

Quote:
“But the more and more I looked into it, the more I found out, people with the same sentiments that there’s a big falling out between Mario (Lemieux) and (Sidney) Crosby. Now whether that pushes them to move him at some point? Whether he wants to move? That I don’t know, “ he said.

[]

Barnaby was asked if the falling out has to do with Crosby’s contract, the coaching staff, losing, or not winning more than one Stanley Cup.

“I’ve heard over coaching, I’ve heard also after the (2014) playoffs when they lost out,” Barnaby said. “Maybe the personnel isn’t right?”

Why would the "falling out" be with the owner? Wouldn't that be with the GM, coach or other hockey ops?

I don't think players on the Flames would approach Murray Edwards if they had an issue with ice-time or something.

Probably because they fired Shero and replaced him with a dinosaur.

Maybe Crosby, like most people, felt that the hiring of Rutherford and Johnston were bad moves. If he was vocal about it, I could see it causing a rift.

Doesn't Crosby still live in Lemieux's guest house? :P

I wouldn't blame Sid for being choked with the way that franchise is ran.

They struggle to get back over the hump and the ownerships answer is to downgrade at both the Head Coach and GM positions?

Brilliant.

Not a smart move to approach your owner and tell him that his hirings for GM and coach were dumb moves.

What good could come out of that? Did Crosby expect the owners would take his advice and then hire a new GM an Coach based on Crosby's recommendations?

Likely we're not getting the whole story here. But if Crosby approached his boss's boss's boss to complain, that was not a smart move.

It's years off of Crosby's career that are being wasted, not Lemieux's. He has a legitimate reason in my view as it looks like the team has squandered it's great potential.

Whether it's right or not is a different argument but Crosby is only human. I know I get pissed off when the management at my job is incompetent to the point of hurting the business.

Let's just go crazy with this and say Crosby asks for a trade;

What do you think it would take to get him?
Who do you think would go after him (top 5 teams because I think 29 teams would)
Where do you see the best fit for him?

Traded to LA. I think they made a big trade once before for a franchise type guy.

Crosby to LA for Kopitar, Brown, Toffoli + picks.

Whether it be bad coaching or management that organization has squandered the prime of Malkin and Crosby's careers. Marc-Andre Fleury is 30 and over the duration of his career the team has never developed a goaltender to challenge him for his job. The organization in that time never developed any quality forwards to supplement Crosby and Malkin as it's been a rotation of free agents and trades. Outside of the odd defenseman that organization has really stunk at developing talent and that's the difference between them and the Hawks who have won cups with the same core of players but have been successful rotating supplemental players in and out through their system.
