The gigantic numbers are a reflection of the sightlines of playing a hockey game in a baseball stadium. People are a lot farther away.

I guess because I actually thought this idea was really cool before they blew it way out of proportion and started having more than one per year. It just ruined the "specialness" (I know that's not a word) of it for me.
It would be like if they started awarding two Stanley Cups per year. The value of it would go down.
EDIT: Not to mention they only use the same six teams for the games. It gets old watching Chicago and Detroit year after year after year.

I like Detroit's winter classic jersey, can't say the same for the Av's one through.

I don't even watch them. I'm sure their fans and other fans still love em but for me its just another game except if the Flames are involved.

Who cares. It doesn't impact you. It's a major source of cash and pub for the league. Anything that raises the NHL's profile is ultimately a good thing, so relax.

I'm kinda meh about the stadium series and/or winter classic. Let the Americans have their fun.
What irked me was how the called the game at BC Place the Heritage Classic. Barf. What is Heritage-y about playing hockey in a domed stadium while it's pissing rain all winter long?
I think what would be really awesome is to hold a game at Whistler & Banff with temporary seating and such. Really go back to hockey's roots. (Make sure it's not raining in Whislter though).
I wish the Oilers and Flames could host an annual outdoor game, alternating between McMahon and Commonwealth. Perhaps every odd year do one in Red Deer, Lethbridge or For Mac?

they really should have put the Oilers in this game against the Avalanche. Showcase McDavid. Detroit shouldn't play in this game every year.

Same could be said for Chicago/Boston/Washington.

So so so so boring. If you're only going to wear the jersey once, at least try to do something unique

Boring and safe is better than unique and terrible, like most of these outdoor game jerseys.

Boring and safe for a once a year spectacle? Why not try something fun and creative? Washington last year was a good example. New color and new logo, but kept a "heritage" type feel. Detroits first heritage jersey was a good example as well.

Here's how little I pay attention to the Wild: If it wasn't for the giant numbers and the thick collar, you could have told me that the Wild have been wearing those uniforms since the day they joined the NHL, and I would have believed you.
However, I checked nhluniforms.com, and those look nothing like any jersey the Wild have ever worn. This is a team that was in the same Division as the Flames for most of its existence, and I honestly couldn't describe their day-to-day uniform to you beyond "green with their wilderness bear logo on the front" (and apparently their primary jersey has been red since 2007).

I don't recall exactly but I suspect the games were awarded and announced before Edmonton got McDavid.

Edmonton probably needs to get out of the basement before the league gives them an outdoor game.

Kind of hoping they would wear those fakes we saw teased with the old North Stars colors.

How Dallas isn't in the Minnesota game is ridiculous.
Top end young talent to showcase, and you get to bring the original Stars back to Minnesota.
Trust the NHL to #### the bed on that one though.

I don't think those were fakes. I believe they're doing a Stars/Wild vs Blackhawks alumni game in the stadium and the combined Minnesota team will be wearing those during that game.
