Is this a joke? Maybe a dozen injuries and he might be considered.
Travis Hamonic must be the most over rated player in years. Pretty soon the questions of "Who would you take: Bobby Orr in his prime of Travis Hamonic with a broken leg?" will begin.

The Flames have a couple of playoff rentals they can deal this year if they're out of it. If Hudler heats up and Jones keeps up this pace and even if Russell improves to a somewhat respectable game they would all get pretty decent returns. I could even see a team giving up a first or second for a guy like Hudler. Well the islanders are in "win now" mode and want something that can help them win a cup this year. Hudler, Jones and even Russell (if they all improve a bit) would help that team right now. I'm not saying a Hudle+Russell would get you Hamonic because I think the Flames would have to add something but I don't think something like that is that far off. A three way deal would probably benefit the Flames even more if the third team is in win now mode too.
I just think that anything is possible and some on here are highly overrating Hamonic (even though he is good) all things considered.

Thank you. The button just didn't do it justice.
The way some guys wanna trade our captain + + + because they must suddenly have Hamonic who is the 2nd coming of Chris Pronger is hilarious.

A Flames fan on HF offered Hamilton, Hudler (25% retained) and a 2nd for Hamonic and Okposo. Insanely bad for Calgary considering Okposo's contract demands and Hamiltons superior upside and career to Hamonic's (especially since he is over 3 years younger).
Honestly when did Hamonic become PK Subban?

With the prices being thrown to acquire Hamonic, I want absolutely no part of it. Hamilton? Gio? Jesus Christ?
No thank you. So overrated.

I think Hamonic is under rated and when people see what his value is they assume he's just being over rated. He's a great young defenseman who is just entering his prime.

I'm willing to bet three years from now we would've taken Gio for Hamonic straight up.

Wow I just read the Damien Cox article on the Sportsnet App. He says " Dougie Hamilton with his erratic play all year is unlikely someone the Islanders want". This can't be serious? 2 months ago the Flames stole a future Franchise Dman from the Bruins. He struggles on a new team in a new conference and now he is not a player teams covet? This makes sense if we are in year 3 of his deal and he continues to struggle but we are 21 games in.

I'm thoroughly amazed by how much Snow has inflated Hamonic's perceived value in the media. A year ago most of these "analysts" would have been asking, "Hamonic who?"

I'm basing it on majority of teams first pairing defenseman roster. If he would replace one of first pairings on other teams. Like others have said on here, he wouldn't even replace the Flames first pairing and we've been terrible this year.
Look at other teams top dmen like Seabrook/Keith, Chara/Krug, Green/Kronwall, Markov/Subban, etc etc.
I think Snow was smart by allowing it to leak in Public that Hamonic wants a trade for personal reasons. This drives up his value because of the illusion of basically saying "we don't want to trade him because we really value him on our team but we want to accommodate our players".
I myself am not buying into the hype.

Yeah, Dougie Hamilton has been the prize of young up and coming elite franchise defensemen, gets to the Flames and has a bad 20 games adjusting to his new team and role and suddenly he is garbage and isn't worth a bag of pucks.. Just mind blowing..
Garth Snow would absolutely take Hamilton straight up for Hamonic. BT would be an idiot for offering it.

And I bet three years from now Pitts would trade Crosby for McDavid straight up.

Hamonic would be nice as he brings an element the team needs. Physical dman that can play in your top 4. Guys like that are not that common.
Think Vlasic, Hjalmarsson etc. That is the kind of dman Hamonic is. That being said, it is pointless to move an existing top 4 dman for him, so unless there is some sort of a menage-et-deal it will not happen with the Flames.

Meh it's Damien Cox. His articles to me have no more merit than say that Ricardo guy that posts here.

The guy was invited to Team Canada's 2014 orientation camp as a 23 year old. I don't see how being considered for 2018 is that far of a stretch.

Yeah, so he was one of 17 guys invited. Meaning he needs about 12 injuries to make the team.

I'm willing to bet Dougie Hamilton will be better defenseman at age 25 than Hamonic right now.

That's assuming he was the worst player that got invited, which he wasn't.

And how do you know that? Because of internet hype 2 years later? That orientation camp didn't even have on ice sessions!

Probablyfrom a different source that you discovered who told you that exactly 12 guys needed to be injured for him to make the team.
Honestly, all that is being said is that it is not out of the question that he will be considered for the 2018 Olympic team. Since he was considered for the 2014 team (even though he needed 12 guys injured to make it), it is likely that he will be on the radar for 2018.
Perhaps as much as some are overrating him, you are underrating him? I know that I would be ecstatic to have a 23 yr old dman that is on the Team Canada radar.
