Cause he's flipping surrounded! Zombies on all sides. Over a hundred. Not just six. But hundreds! Kicking one ain't going to do anything.
And for your earlier comment about being distracted by the frenzy on Nicholas, that makes no sense either for two reasons.
One, he's right underneath him, inches away from the snapping teeth and grasping hands. They're not necessarily going, oh, it's a second person. It's one big pile of food! And, he could easy get bit by accident anyway.
Two, back to your crack example, if you have 50 friends grasping at one pile of crack, wouldn't you just grab at the uncontested pile of crack LYING RIGHT THERE?!
As I said, I'm pretty sure he's going to get away. Probably with the guts giving him camouflage until he rolls under the dumpster. But the guts are simply that, camouflage. They don't make you invisible or impervious. When Rick and Glenn first used them, they weren't a sure thing. So for them to help in the middle of a feeding frenzy when he's underneath pile of food being ravaged, is absolutely ludicrous. It makes no sense.
As I said, I'm sure he gets away, it's just a pseduo cliffhanger to increase the tension. But if that's the way it plays out (guts + dumpster), there's no argument that makes sense. Sorry, It's stupid.
One thing I might like to see is that he actually did get bit, but is able to get away. From there, if they wanted to save him, maybe he's immune for some reason. Shoot, there's gotta be a few people on the planet that are immune to that fever. And if not, then he could turn and die. But at least that would be far more believable than guts + dumpster.

If Glenn gets out of this mess it will be stupid, bad writing, etc.
And I won't care. Neither will most people. Everybody loves Glenn.

He's surrounded by all sides...except the one with the dumpster that he can slide under.
Also, most of those zombies can't get to him, because other zombies are in the way. At most 5-10 can actually reach him with their teeth, and they're all heavily distracted by the Nicholas buffet.

Under no circumstances should less than a dozen of those zombies be going after Glenn. Hiding under a dumpster shouldn't work. Even if they were to ignore Glenn completely, the zombies should have already crushed and trampled him to get at the dead guy on top of him, considering that's their goal and he was surrounded by a 100 zombies. It's already stupid that 4 or 5 zombies are kneeling down eating the flesh of Nicholas while the rest are patiently waiting their turn instead of doing the only thing they do. And it's not like the writers didn't account for that, they already have shown what appears to be zombies pressing and squishing one another against the wall at Alexandria with the blood coming through the cracks.
The writers and director intentionally set it up so that it looked like Glenn was dead, they put him in a situation that was certain death - heck you can even tell that Glenn knows it's certain death as he isn't going for a dumpster. It's the logistics of his death being 'off-screen' from the rest of the main characters, and the way the intestines were shown, that have left room for him to be alive. If Maggie was on the rooftop watching what happened, there would be no one looking up the height of a dumpster as it would be a very clear death. So it's not that it's improbable, it's the fact that if he does get under the dumpsters it's just extremely poor writing.

There are plenty of other people in the area. He just needs to slide under the dumpster and then hold out for a few minutes....or you know call for help on the walkie talkie he has with him.

I am not sure why you think he can compress his body down to 8 inches, including his head.
Anyway, maybe he found one of these:

We had another poster in this thread, who is bigger than Glenn, saying he slid under a dumpster....Glenn doesn't need to compress his head so much as turn it sideways.
People are just pissed at the cliffhanger. Glenn sliding under a dumpster and using a walkie talkie to call for help is hardly unrealistic in the context of the show. If the scene had carried on for another 20 seconds and actually shown Glenn sliding under the dumpster no one would be asking questions.

Just to be clear, people are as much pissed he is dead, as people are clutching at straws that he might still be alive.

What's the timeline right now? Can we assume that the last episode took place the day after the zombie parade/Glenn getting eaten? Or have there been more days that have gone by?

I'm not really clutching at straws. I'm just stating there is a very real possibility that Glenn, who was in possession of a walkie talkie, and had a viable escape option may still be alive. If he's dead, whatever. I'm just stating that there is a very real possibility he is alive, and if he is there is a logical explanation for how he survived that fits in with the writing from the rest of the show.

There all at different points. It's been a day past the Glenn stuff in the Darryl timeline. The Rick/Alexandria timeline is even further ahead. They've extended into the next evening.

If he slides under why wont the zombies crawl under and get him? We've seen zombies crawl under cars at people before.

The Zombies are dumb and don't seem capable of the kind of coordination necessary to fully slide under. It seems more likely they try to jam their heads at him, but be unable to get their shoulders through the gap.
It's likely a few would see him slide under the dumpster and reach for him, and he could stab those few in the head. They would then block the entrance to the dumpster or Glenn could camouflage himself with their guts.

Ok, I'm going to nerd out one last time here...
That side of the Dumpster brand dumpster is near his feet, AND he's laying on his back. It's not easily accessible. It's not by his head, and he's not ready to bust into crawl mode. He'd have to turn around and flip over, and then move underneath, all while getting mobbed. You don't think the zombies are going to notice that? He can't 'sneak' away. He needs to spin or flip and then crawl back the way he came. Probably about 7 feet including the spin around just to get his head underneath, and another few feet before they could stop grasping or biting at exposed limps. You don't think 5-10 zombies standing above you an in your way aren't going to get even one bite on you? He's in a prone position and there's no quick route to the underside of the Dumpster brand dumpster.
Oh! Plus this whole guts theory is wrong anyway too! He's not covered in zombie guts. He's covered in fresh yummy healthy blood!. That's fresh blood being spilt on him, you know, the kind that drives zombies crazy.
Dude it's bad writing just to tease some suspense. At least the way they showed it going down. But I'm going to leave it at that, cause I'm embarrassing myself now, lol.

As far as the guts go, I didn't say Nicholas' guts. He could stab a walker who tried to get to him once under the dumpster.
As far as getting under the dumpster. He needs to swivel his body so he is now parallel to it and then slide sideways.
Honestly, as far as things that have happened on this show, its not that out of the usual. Your theory that there is no way he survives relies on the zombies not acting like idiots, which has never happened on the show. The zombies are constantly getting distracted by food and ignoring characters in the process. They also ignored Michone when she was walking with two zombies on chains. They ignored characters when they had zombie guts on them. The zombies are dumb. They don't have the reasoning power to deduce that someone would be under the dumpster.

Glenn could have suddenly developed laser eyes and disintegrated for all I care. Hell, they could keep him around as a zombie pet, so long as he's still around!

He appears to be pretty well positioned for a dumpster escape in this photo. He's right next to the dumpster with not really any walkers in his way.

Glen's fate has been obvious to anyone who is too lazy to skip the commercials since the episode aired. It's been right in front of everyone.
