Good win. Some questionable defending, and the goalie doesn't insipire confidence, but a win is a win, and given the conditions when getting to San Salvador and Honduras, they need to win home fixtures...a couple home draws are what prevented them from getting into the Hex last time around.

Agree with the defending, Straith was below average at best, some of those passes I was like wtf. I wonder if the turf plays in any part of it?
100% disagree about goalkeeping. Borjan was awesome tonight, reading the play so well and coming out and helping his defenders when needed. He made the saves he had to.
Very satisfying win and how we time managed the game via concacaf style, usually it's us getting pissed about it, nice we turned the tables, at least for this game!

Huge result for us. We haven't beaten Honduras in WCQ since the 90s, and they've been in our group the last 3 times.

I thought Borjan could have done better on those two long shots that one sub had. But other than that he was good.
Floro apparently said the Mexico game will be in Vancouver, might have to attend.

That was a fun game to watch, and Canada had some nice chances to add to that one goal. I wish Canada had some better venues to host these games though. That place just seems like a cavern, and while I know that grass isn't entirely feasible, that turf just looks horrible. I watched some of the Whitecaps game last week and thought the same. It just looks like amateur hour when you combine that enormous empty seating with the fake grass.
Regardless, awesome win for Canada and pretty fun game to watch.

It has been suggested that Tuesday's match might be on beIn Sports Canada. That means little for many of us because Shaw doesn't even carry that channel.

that was a really fun game to watch. Didnt know the qualifiers started. Poland qualified for the euro, itd be absolutely perfect for this soccer fan if Canada qualified for the world cup too.

This is as good a game as any to get 3 points in Central America. El Salvador's "A" squad are on strike because of wages, and a "B" side has been called up, with mostly domestic based players. Ticket sales for the game are low as many El Salvadorian supporters are protesting the football federation by staying away from the game. Might mean a few less bags of piss thrown at players this go around!
Apparently The Pint has beIN sports, I'm trying to confirm.

The game tonight is not in TSN, it's on beIN, a soccer specialty channel. In Concacaf, the host country is in charge of distribution of the tv rights to their games. If they decide to try to extort a ransom out of TSN, this is what we're left with for tv access. It's always been this way in Concacaf.

Actually their "A" squad is banned for life for match fixing, their "B" squad is on strike, so hello "C" squad in an empty stadium.
A win, regardless of the situation would be huge for positioning in the table as well as the psyche of the national program that has until March to play it's next meaningful game. Go in to the break on a high note!

Why would we ever leave CONCACAF? It provides too much comedy.

I loved how Junior Hoillet CONCACAFed it up last game. Normally I'd be embarassed to see one of our own rolling around on the ground time wasting, but I instead thought: Good. We are finally leveling the playing field with our Central American opponents.

I like that this is on BEIN, as I can watch it in US. They showed all 3 games today as a triple header.
I do feel a little bad for the El Salvador fans that their program is in such disarray. I watched the Spain-El Salvador friendly at Fed Ex field. They packed that stadium with over 50,000 people and 90% were wearing their blue jerseys. They were some of the most friendly and passionate people I've ever met.
Canada has looked good in this game, hopefully they figure out a way to score a goal. Kind of look like they are tiring though.
