I was thinking about this as well. However, the headlines are saying he's only known about his HIV for 2 years, and the meltdown was before that.

Like Magic Johnson's case?

Quote:
Charlie Sheen has had HIV for years ... but his position now is that he beat the disease because it's undetectable in his system ... TMZ has learned.

Our sources say Charlie has known for more than 2 years that he was HIV positive ... and one source says he's known way longer than that. We're told Charlie was taking meds for the HIV and has had a series of blood tests, and over time, the virus has been "undetectable" in his system.

We're told Charlie freely admits he's had scores of sexual partners over the years, many of whom had intimate relations with him after his diagnosis. The implication here is clear ... Charlie is saying he didn't deceive anyone, since the blood tests did not reveal the presence of HIV.

Doctors beg to differ and say once someone has HIV they have it for life, at least until medicine advances.

If that's the case, although the law may be different in the USA, in Canada he legally might not have a duty to disclose:

If you use a condom and the viral count is low, you do not necessarily have an obligation to disclose in Canada.

What a croc of #### this whole thing is.

Celebrities/politicians use the media to promote themselves, and the media lets them because it’s ratings gold. Media rips celebrities/politicians to pieces (“build ‘em up, tear ‘em down”) and concerned parties have learned to profit from this.

It’s a disgusting dichotomy that has somehow risen from trashy tabloids to become a mainstream media buffet for bottom feeders. It’s shameless, and I’m more inclined to blame the media for this. Not news consumers, not celebrities: the media. The industry needs to hold itself to a higher standard. But of course: advertising revenue.

Let me guess, Sheen has a new book coming out. Or a new show/movie. Or his contract is coming up for renewal. Or, or, or . . .

As the "Today" show reports Charlie Sheen will make a personal announcement to the world on Tuesday, and sources claim he'll reveal that he is HIV Positive, a source familiar with the situation tells Access Hollywood that Sheen's ex-wife, DeniseRichards, has known Sheen had the disease for a "number of years."

The source told Access Hollywood that theactor allegedly contracted the disease in the years after he and Richards divorced in 2006.

Sheen and Richards have "not been intimate" sincethe divorce, the source added.

More than one year before The National ENQUIRER would reveal Charlie Sheen‘s HIV cover-up, Hollywood executives discussed the open secret in an email leaked by Sony hackers.

Radar has viewed the email, sent on March 10, 2014, which referred to Sheen as “a drug addict and HIV positive.” The author expressed doubt that he’d be able to complete filming for Anger Management. It was released as part of the massive Wikileaks data dump earlier this year.

Recipients of the email included John Weiser, the President of U.S. distribution for Sony Pictures Television, Jamie Erlicht the President of U.S. programming and production for Sony Pictures Television, and Zack Van Amburg, President of U.S. programming and production for Sony Pictures Television.

As Radar reported, 50-year-old Sheen’s HIV-positive status has been an open secret for years, finally revealed by The National ENQUIRER Monday morning. Sheen spent $10 million to cover up the news, according to The ENQUIRER.

As much as Charlie is easy to vilify, as long as you have a low viral count, under 1500 (undetectable is usually considered under 200) and use a condom you are not under any obligation to disclose your HIV status in Canada.

You can debate the morality of that, but the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled on it.

Advances in treatment have made HIV more akin to diabetes in terms of it is more of a manageable condition which you can live a close to normal life with, it's not the death sentence it was when it was first discovered.

Here's a fundamental problem with any lawsuit: How in the world does someone sleep with Charlie Sheen and then claim shock at getting an STD??

I'm not kidding. The guy is known to have put his penis in every receptacle he came across that was remotely penis shaped, typically while under the influence of multiple intoxicants, so how can someone have sexual contact with said penis with any claim to an expectation that it be disease free?

As far as viruses go, HIV is actually pretty difficult to get. It's transmitted in very specific ways that are almost always choice driven, it doesn't survive very long outside of the body, and we have statistically proven methods of making the transmission extremely unlikely.

That's obviously little consolation to someone who actually gets it though. My sister used to work with someone who has HIV and got pretty sick before getting tested and finding out. The really sad thing was that he ended up infecting his wife too (who worked at the same place). Apparently this guy that everyone thought was completely straight edge, was leading a double life of prostitutes and hard drugs. Celebrities aren't the only ones that get caught up in that.

If he isn't lying, I have some sympathy for the man. Not an easy diagnosis to live with. Surprised that anyone would consent to unprotected sex - even with an individual that has an undetectable viral load. By CDC and Health Canada guidelines, that automatically places you in the high risk bracket for testing.

Can we please have the title to the thread changed? The man did not knowingly spread the disease to anybody, there is zero proof of that at all and is misleading. Yes, the man led a pretty trashy life but he is still a human being, lets show a little compassion here.

Here are my thoughts:
- Hopefully, we can have a real discussion around HIV and can start the process of de-stigmatizing it. Sadly, I don't think Charlie Sheen is the type of person who will be a role model or leader in this discussion.
- If someone is HIV+, they should disclose it to anyone you are having sex regardless of viral loads with even if they are having protected sex...and why the hell would they not be wearing protection?

Bree Olson is refuting her ex-boyfriend Charlie Sheen's claim that he told all of his past sexual partners he is HIV-positive.

During a Tuesday interview on The Howard Stern Show, the former porn star, 29, spoke out against the actor, 50, who revealed he was diagnosed with HIV about four years ago during an interview with Today's Matt Lauer on Tuesday.

"I watched, right before I came in here ... the interviewer asked him: 'Was this during the tiger blood thing, is this because of that?' And he even admittedly said, he's like: 'Well, I don't know if it's necessarily because of that,' " an emotional Olson said on the radio show. "So he just admitted right in that interview that is the tiger blood time – that's when I was with him! I was living with him! We were sleeping together every single night."

When Stern asked if Sheen ever told her about his diagnosis, Olson vehemently denied him ever saying anything about it.

"Never said anything. Ever. 'I'm clean,' he told me. 'I'm clean, I'm clean.' "

In fairness, presuming that she didnt know that would suck.

I mean, I tentatively agree with Mike F up there, in the disease department having sex with Charlie Sheen is more or less like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun or an automatic pistol, but still, her only crime was having sex with Charlie Sheen which, if I'm honest, I cant find that it contravenes California's penal code anywhere, but it probably should. Thats an oversight.
